The adventure began in the Belgian city of Leuven, which has over 640 years of brewing tradition. In 1717 master brewer Sebastian Artois purchased the Den Horen (The Horn) brewery and changed its name to Artois. The beer received its current name during Christmas of 1926 when the brewers created a special holiday beer with a bright color that was named “Stella”—Latin for “star.” Stella Artois is a crisp, refreshing and classic Belgian lager that pairs well with a variety of food styles including Asian and Indian dishes, cream sauces and flavorful cheeses.
