Potlucks are like insta-parties: choose a location, add people and food, and voila! Grilling Greats

I don’t know about you, but as soon as I start getting my garden ready for tomato seedlings, I get itchy for a meal cooked on the grill. While we used to stick with tried-and-true burgers, bratwurst and corn on the cob, in recent years my family has branched out to grilling whole chickens, halved peaches and basket after basket of small, flavorful peppers. This summer, who knows what I’ll decide needs a turn on the flames!

Part of what makes grilling so fun is how endless the possibilities are.

How to Host the Best Yard Party

This summer, make your backyard the place for barbeques, special celebrations and summer hangouts without putting stress on the invite list.

Crowd-Pleasing Party Wines

I love a good party. And I love a good wine. Then why do I get so flustered when I have to pick a wine to bring to a party? I don’t want to spend too much, which for me is over $20. But I also don’t want the wine to taste cheap, either. And then what type to choose, especially when you’re picking for a crowd of people whose wine tastes could run the gamut from pink and sweet to dark and leathery. Which is why I totally appreciate our Top Ten Wines list that comes out every summer (look for a new list during the holidays, too).

Fourth of July Favorites

American flag T-shirts; red, white and blue décor; news segments on the Founding Fathers … yup, it must be almost time for Independence Day! For me, it’s an opportunity to see the joy on my son’s face while he watches fireworks set to the national anthem. It’s not just patriotic pride that brings us together on July Fourth, but it’s also the love of connecting with family and friends.

Party-Perfect Dips, Spreads and Finger Foods

When I was a kid and had friends sleep over at my house,  it wasn’t an actual slumber party  until we broke out a bowl of my trusty French onion and bacon dip, a bag of potato chips and a package of cookies. Now that I’ve grown up, I’ve moved on to a wider (and healthier) variety of social snackage, but the original thought remains the same: a party just isn’t a party without dips, spreads and other bite-size nibbles. Just in case you’ve got a shindig coming up, I’ve collected some of our favorite recipes for snacking.
