I run because I want to stay healthy and no additional equipment is required aside from my shoes. I can go out there and depending on my mood I can push myself by going at a quicker pace or I can take it easy and go for a super long run. I run for my family so that my husband has a healthy wife and my son has a positive role model and learns to live a healthy lifestyle (diet and physical activities) through both his parents.

I have been running for 2 years now and have lost weight and feel great about myself! I love feeling healthy and the natural high i get after a nice run.. I also run to support the different Charities for a good cause. I have tried for the last couple of years to win a spot for the Womens Nike Run and have not been chosen, so I would be so grateful If I were to get a spot in this years run. Thank you

I run so be free... This is my time... Free from husband, kids, worries and stress - just me and the pavement. And I love running races to be with others who love the rush...

I run because it challenges me. After a terrible auto accident 7 years ago, each time I run I remind myself about the hurdles I've overcame in training. I think about the sweat, tears and getting back up over and over again to be able to achieve a half marathon with my chronic pain. It would be an honor to be able to run the NWM as my first Bay Area race!

I run for my sister who we lost to lymphoid cancer at the age of 28. I run for my family and I run for health. I would love to run this year and honor my sister by finishing the race she couldn't finish. Please allow me to be a part of a grand event. It would bring great joy to accomplish a 1/2 marathon.

Every time I tie my laces and take the first step out the door every morning, I know I'm already halfway there to finish my workout for the day. The part where I force myself out of bed or off the couch to get changed to run, it's the hardest! But once I start running, I know why it was so worth it to force myself out there with my shoes on. Every day I run for a different reason-- for my health, to go over my schedule for the day, to look good that night because I'm wearing a tight dress, to mull over my project at work, or to run to a new playlist I just downloaded off itunes, etc. But ultimately, what stays consistent on every run is the feeling of achievement and the "I finished my run for the day!" feeling when I'm rounding the street corner and I can see the end of my run. I run to make my body more fit than the day before; I run to have a faster time than the last race. I run to improve myself and to remind myself that I won't settle for less. It's the ultimate challenge because I'm a player in a sport where mentality accounts for almost 90% of my performance.

I run because it takes me to a different place...I'm not a mom, a caregiver, an employee, a sister, a daughter, I am just free to be me.

I run for all of the people who are not able to; because there are simply so many who are not fortunate enough to experience the wonderful feeling both phisically and mentally when finishing a run, no matter how long. I motivate myself to lace up my shoes and get going because I CAN and it is my way of shwoing how thankful I am to have this opportunity. The joy I get from running is something that I want to share with everyone. In fact, two of my friends who never before even thought of running a half-marathon completed their first in May, followed by the Giant Race a couple weeks ago. Inspiring others to do what I love is in itself quite inspirational.

I run now because I can - as just a few years ago I could barely jog 100 yards. To live life in honor of my family and friends who have lost their lives to cancer.

Day in and day out, I am always taking care of everyone around me. I am a nurse at work and a mother at home. I work full time and still find time to volunteer at my girl's school. I run to take care of me so that I can take care of everyone else. I run to show my girls that they need to take care of themselves so that they can help others everyday.

I run because it makes me a better person. A better wife and mother; the time I use for running means more energy, a clear mind & more positive attitude for my family. A better nurse; with more empathy for those who are less fortunate with their physical health. A better human being; who simply appreciates the beauty and power of the running for a cause.

I run for fun, I run for therapy, I run for health and I love to run for a cause. Fun & Healthy: Running is fun because of how empowering, invigorating and accomplished you feel to know that you've tried, tried your hardest to go as far as you can, for as long as you can all while being active and healthy. Therapy: I believe that running may be one of the most therapeutic measures available besides laughter of course. For a cause: Doing what i love (running) while helping to benefit a cause and hoping to make a difference is one awesome combination. I have done a run in efforts to reduce child hunger, will be doing another run for pancreatic cancer research and would be forever grateful to participate in the NWM!
