In recipes for soups, stews, marinades and batters, you can replace some or all of the water, broth, wine and other cooking liquid with beer. You can even add beer to a cake or bread batter. Beer adds character, an earthy, rich flavor and depth, and that certain something that you just can’t put your finger on.

The Big Meal is a great opportunity to break out of your wine-buying routine and take a look at tasty and affordable pairings. Luckily, traditional roast turkey welcomes a broad palette of wine styles and flavors, with one rule of thumb: avoid big, meaty tannic wines, like Cabernets or Chiantis. (They can overpower, so save them for a charcuterie plate or slow sipping by the fire). Instead, for Reds, seek out unabashed juiciness, pronounced fruit and a soft round finish. With Whites, you want well-balanced acidity and flavors ranging from crisp and dry to delicately sweet to floral.

You probably have already heard of Foster's Lager - it is the most popular Australian beer in the world. But you may not know that this beer has deep roots. Back in 1887 when Foster's was first brewed, most beer was served at room temperature. Brothers William and Ralph Foster figured their fellow Australians would enjoy a cold beer in that warm climate.
