Whole Kids Foundation is dedicated to helping kids eat better—and enjoy it! Visit their website for information on how they support schools and inspire families to improve children’s nutrition and wellness.

Team Member Garden Build

It takes just one pair of little hands to plant a single seed, but many more are needed to make that happen in school gardens across the country.

Whole Kids Foundation has awarded $4.2 million in garden grant funds to 2,100 schools since 2011. They recently announced a new crop of more than 500 additional schools to receive grants in 2014. Visit wholekidsfoundation.org to learn more about their School Garden Grant Program or to find school gardens in your area.

In honor of Earth Month, Whole Kids Foundation and Whole Foods Market stores are partnering with seven corporate sponsors to host spring garden parties at 75 schools. These gatherings will celebrate shared successes and recognize the many hands that join together to make school gardens possible: students, families, teachers, volunteers, Whole Foods Market employees and shoppers, as well as corporate partners.

These garden parties are made possible by generous donations from Applegate, Cascadian Farm, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, Organic Valley, Roots, Rudi’s Organic Bakery and Suja Juice. In addition to financial support, these key partners have also provided in-kind donations of food, gardening kits, kid-friendly activities and other fun surprises.

Have your kids discovered the joy of growing food? Tell us about it in the comments below.

Thank you Whole Foods. We attended the School Garden Event at McKinley Elementary School in Elkins Park, PA and the food was delicious. The event was very educational and entertaining for the children and the parents! Keep doing what your doing in the communities and schools!
