Cherish Cherries

Cherry FestPitters and seed spitters, rejoice! It’s cherry season. These ruby jewels are at their peak of deliciousness, and Whole Foods Market® is celebrating with our 4th annual Cherry Fest. UPDATE: Thank you to everyone that entered! Congratulations to our randomly chosen winners: Robin, Brooke, Megan, Erica and Jill!

We’re giving away five pounds of hand-picked cherries each to five randomly selected winners who share what they would do with that many cherries. Here’s some delicious inspiration:

  1. Bake em’. There is nothing like a pie with peak-of-the-season cherries. Nothing. Well…cherry scones, cake or bread is a close second.
  2. Freeze em’. Smoothies, ice pops, ice cream, oh my!
  3. Preserve em’. Two words: Homemade. Jam.
  4. Dry em’. Then try them in granola and grain salads.

Although no one would blame you if you simply enjoyed heaping bowls of chilled cherries with friends and family. Sometimes simple is best.

Do you cherish cherry season? What would you do with five pounds of plump juicy cherries?

Tell us in the comments below by Wednesday, July 10 and you could win!

The fine print: These are red Washington cherries and will be shipped directly to you from our farmer partners. Depending on availability and quality, they may be organic or conventional. No purchase necessary. Promotion ends July 10, 2013, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

I used sour cherries in my pancakes. I leave them whole so when you bit into one and then the sweet syrup - pure heaven
