That’s where Whole Foods Market Body Care Standards come to the rescue. We’ve taken the time to do the homework so you don’t have to. Every single item you pick up in our body care department meets standards that go beyond what you will find in other stores.
Body Care Ingredients We Don't Sell
Currently, there are more than 50 ingredients common in conventional body care products that are not allowed in any body care products we sell. That includes phthalates, microbeads, triclosan, BHT, BHA, aluminum chlorohydrate, and many more.
What We Do Have
Our buyers are passionate about seeking out the most healthful, minimally processed products available.
We encourage our vendor partners to use plant-based and naturally derived ingredients, pure essential oil fragrances, gentle preservatives and non-petroleum ingredients.
And, we do not allow animal testing for any of our personal care products, ever.
Premium Body Care Standards
While our basic body care standards already set us apart, our Premium Body Care Standards acknowledge the most exceptional personal care products available.
They meet the strictest standards for quality sourcing, environmental impact, results and safety. We banned more than 400 ingredients for Premium Body Care, including parabens, polypropylene and polyethylene glycols, sodium lauryl and laureth sulfates.
Organic Body Care Standards
We make sure that “organic” really means organic in every aisle of our store — including for body care.
Since there are no mandatory government standards for "organic" label claims on body care products, when shopping elsewhere you can’t be certain of what it means. And that’s why we created our own standard to make sure our customers can trust the “organic” claim on the personal care products we carry in our stores
