Well, I know the amazing Django Reinhardt wasn't born in France but he grew up there and is known for his French "hot" music and is one of my most favorite performers of not only French music but jazz music in general.

Favorite French composer is Michel LeGrande (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg). Also enjoyed Gypsy music in South of France which I was fortunate to hear in person.

I love French music. I studied French in high school and was introduced to the music of 60 French girls, which I got as a Christmas gift. After playing this album so often it became a tradition in our home at Christmas to listen to the 60 French girls. That music is very uplifting and I love it. Would love to win this CD and be introduced to more enjoyable French music.

The French artists that you mention are truly great and have a place in the world with regards to French music. However, there is one outstanding performer who has done more for bringing French music to the world and he is Charles Aznavour. He brings the old classics and modern French with the old ballads and love songs.

The French do some things well, and their folk combined with our jazz is fantastique! Django Reinhardt probably best epitomizes that mix (along with a little gypsy flavor of course).
