Whole Story

The Official Whole Foods Market® Blog

What's New in May

Most of my clothes are the same colors. I have the same hairstyle I did in high school. I haven’t bought new music in a couple months. Sure, I’m stuck in a few ruts, but when it comes to food, I’m an adventurous trailblazer conquering new-to-me cooking methods, ingredients and products. “Yes! I’ll try that,” is my food motto.

If you’re also on the lookout for products to try, you’ll be happy to know that Whole Foods Market adds many new items to our shelves every month. Dig in to our most recent additions with ease knowing they all meet our Quality Standards, meaning they’re free of hydrogenated fats and artificial preservatives, colors and flavors.

Here’s what new now:

Beyond Meat Chicken-Free Strips

These vegan strips look like chicken and cook like chicken, but they’re actually made from soybeans and peas. Whether you fancy fajitas or long for a stir-fry, they deliver satisfying texture and 18 grams of plant-based protein. Choose from Grilled, Lightly Seasoned or Southwest Style.

Hiball Peach Sparkling Energy Water

Looking for a refreshing drink made without sweeteners of any kind, no calories, no sodium and no artificial flavors? We were too. The energy boost in this fortunate find comes from a blend of organic caffeine, ginseng, guarana and B vitamins.

Hiball Pomegranate Açaí Organic Energy Drink

Loving the Organic Valley 100% grass-fed whole milk! We've started stopping by the store weekly just to buy this item. It's great to have easy access to milk from 100% grass-fed cows. Please continue to stock the whole milk version, we had to settle for 2% this week because our store was out of whole.

I have discovered the milk and butter of "Natural by Nature" which is totally from pasture-raised cows and is only "lightly" pasturized so that the good stuff isn't killed off through high heat pasturization! At least that's what I think I read about them. Their products taste great, which leads me to believe it's true. If anyone has ever tasted totally grass-raised raw cow's milk, you know how delicious it is. Like milk ought to taste, and with all the healthy benefits. This reminded me of that. So good!

Total plain Fage Greek yogurt its my favorite. I don't like fat free products because they usually contain something artifial. Or have bunch of sugar. In contrast Fage yogurt has good amount of protein, no sugar added, and its full fat. I can mix berries or sugar free melted dark chocolate or put in smoothies. It's just perfect for many of my desserts, and dips.

My son just tried the Organic Valley 100% grass-fed whole milk and loved it. I hope that in the near future Whole Foods will offer more Non-GMO Project verified products.

@RALPH - I was able to pull up the Organic Valley Grassmilk options and there is a whole milk option that they make (http://www.organicvalley.coop/products/milk/grassmilk/). Check with your local store to see if they carry this variety, if not, they'll be happy to look in to ordering it for you!

Yay for non-GMO packaged foods! I'm always looking for quick(er) vegetarian meals that are organic and actually taste good. This is the second time in one week that the Hilary's burgers have been recommended to me, definitely going to stop by and grab one!

Is the soy in your new 'Beyond Meat chicken strips' with peas+soy - non GMO?? It doesn't say so like the 'Hillarys Hemp Burgers' indicate as part of non-gmo project> and are your fresh produce all NON-GMO. even the non-organics??

Nikki - Community Moderator says …

@DEE - You can see the soy ingredients in their products noted as non-GMO identity preserved. You can look through all of their ingredients on their site at http://www.beyondmeat.com/.
