My son likes carrots dipped in peanut butter. This is especially healthy and he thought of it himself.

For me, a small handful of raw nuts/legumes (almonds, cashews, pistachios, etc.) seems to do the trick nicely. Not too often though as the fat calories can quickly add up, even with raw.

I like to whip up fresh hummus in my Vitamix blender using 365 brand chickpeas, olive oil, lemon juice, fresh garlic and sesame seeds. It goes great with tortilla chips and sliced bell pepper strips.

My favorite snack is as simple as they come. A nice Fuji or Gala style apple from Whole Foods, nice and cold.

Spread homemade or your favorite prepared hummus on a whole wheat tortilla, add a row of grilled veggies or fresh veggie strips or leftover steamed veggies. Roll up and slice into "sushi" sized slices. The hummus keeps the rolls sealed. It's easy to pack, nutritious & the kids get their veggies. Change it up by add-ins to the hummus, different flavored hummus or different flavored tortillas. You can also substitute hummus with "gaucasalsa"-salsa mixed with a mashed avacado(also great for a veggies dip) or try a sweet version with yogurt and fruit.

Our culture is a fast paced one for adults and kids.. So we chop up organic fruits and freeze them. Throw any mixture of them into the blender with some organic apple juice and you have yourself a nutritious and absolutely delicious snack/drink! And of course for fun as a mother I love to sneak a few veggies in there... the husband and kids never know!! ;)

Make a date-apple spread to put on crackers: Use about 3/4 cup dates (pitted) and 2 granny smith apples with the skin on. Put them in the blender till smooth. Afterward, you can stir in some yogurt. Delicious and healthful.

This is probably on the outer edge of healthfulness, but it's too much fun: when I'm making bread (almost 100% whole grain!) I'll roll out a small piece into a circle, heat it on a griddle, sprinkle some chocolate chips or spread some jam or whatever on one half, fold it over and let it bake through. My kids sat there in shocked disbelief the first time I treated them to this. Then they devoured the bread.

I am a big fan of simply nibbling on raw almonds or walnuts. If I want something a bit more substantial, then I will treat myself to some homemade organic hummus or baba, or I will have some celery with almond butter. If you are craving cheese, but don't want all of the fat and calories, then WF sells a wonderful hot pepper almond cheese.
