Intimate video work, glowing with fresh autumn light and hand-drawn illustrations bring a poem by Tanya Davis to life. “How to Be Alone” is a gently stark lens on the societal views and self-reflections of being alone. Andrea Dorfman is a filmmaker and artist living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Andrea has made numerous short films; two feature films, Parsley Days and Love That Boy; a documentary, Sluts; and the animated short, Flawed. Tanya Davis is a poet/singer/songwriter living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She performs her own poem, “How to Be Alone,” in this short.

What a great inspiring presentation! Thanks for sharing a new perspective in this digital world where few know the art of being alone with a positive mindset (and not lonely and wasting or killing precious time of life). Beautifully explained and picturised. Hats off! Have a good time always!!

Tanya has a sweet, rare talent, with a sensitivity that makes me want to talk to her or at least say hello. To say i enjoyed How To Be Alone is an understatement. Tanya, thank you for being you. jim
