Team Member Pick: 365 Everyday Value® Organic Pasta Sauce

As nearly any Whole Foods Market® team member will tell you, we don’t just work here, we eat here. New team members quickly find favorites while experienced team members continue to grow their long lists of tried-and-true products. Week after week, to the delight of hungry babysitters, friends and neighbors, we fill our fridges, freezers and pantries with the best the store has to offer without emptying our pocketbooks.

What’s our secret? When asked about how to get more for less, team members point to our 365 Everyday Value® line. From whole grain flours and shade-grown coffee to organic milk and multivitamins for kids, all 365 Everyday Value® products are formulated to meet our quality standards and have affordable prices every day of the year.

Mary Jo Ramm, a concierge at our Willowbrook, Illinois store and team member since 2002, shares her pick (along with holiday hazards when you work at the store).

What is your favorite 365 Everyday Value® product? Our 365 Everyday Value® Organic Pasta Sauce, which I always have on hand in our Classic variety. It’s versatile and everyone enjoys it, from weekend family suppers to dinner parties. It makes an incredibly affordable meal with our 365 Everyday Value® Organic Whole Wheat Pasta.

Have you ever worn any food item as clothing? Not really, no, I’ve never worn food as clothing. Well, I guess I have worn food... my son will cringe, but let’s just say he thought his baby food looked better on his mom than in his bowl.

Have you had any dreams with food in them? My dreams can get pretty interesting, especially during the busy holiday season. From turkeys that fly out of the oven to dinners that never get cooked, food is the star of my psyche.

If you weren’t going to eat that favorite product, what else can you imagine doing with it? Well, I’m a knitting fanatic, and if needed, I know I would find a way to knit our 365 Everyday Value® Organic Whole Wheat Pasta noodles (cooked first, of course) into something beautiful that would also serve as a tasty treat.

If Mary Jo can’t be on hand to help you, rest assured that the team members at your local store have their own picks and must-tries too. They’re happy to share them with you to ensure you go home with a new favorite. Just ask.

Joel Francis says …

Due to being a plant-based, whole foods nutritarian for over 8 months now, it has been a struggle finding any pasta sauce that had great flavor but without added oils. Yesterday, based on the "Approved Foods" list put out by the Engine 2 Diet (Rip Esselstyn) I bought a jar of the oil-free 365 Organic "Fat Free" Pasta Sauce at the Carmel, IN Whole Foods (there may not be enough people, but it would be great if there was a store up here in Lafayette/West Lafayette, IN!). Last night I tried the 365 Fat Free Pasta Sauce with organic brown rice and the fat free/oil free pasta sauce is excellent! - I really hope Whole Foods continues to expand your varieties of pasta sauce that does not have oils to help the thousands of us who have found great success going to a "plant-based, low-fat, oil free" food lifestyle. There are thousands more customers coming down the pipeline who will be eating like us. Since going plant/starch-based in February of this year ('12) my cholesterol, triglyceride and other blood scores have all greatly improved, I've lost over 60 pounds of extra weight, and feel better now than ever before. Thanks to experts such as the Esselstyn's, the McDougall's, etc., that Whole Foods have teamed up with, not only my health has greatly improved but so has the health of many friends who have changed after hearing my story, watching "Forks Over Knives", reading "Engine 2 Diet" and going plant-based, oil-free. If Whole Foods keeps making great products like the 365 Organic Fat Free Pasta Sauce, I'll keep coming back to your store (the 365 Almond Milk is excellent too!). Sincerely, Joel Francis
