I have been listening to Marley since I was in my mother's womb! Whenever I've felt down or stressed, Bob Marley's songs have always been able to pick me up. My favorites change from time to time but right now it is between "Satisfy My Soul" and "Is This Love". Both songs have an uncanny ability to transport me to a hammock with coconut water in my hand!

"Redemption Song" The last song on his last album recorded while he was still alive. We traveled to Reggae Sunsplash in Montego Bay the year he died and the whole Sunsplash event was a tribute to Bob Marley. At sunrise Rita Marley and Stevie Wonder(surprise guest)sang this song together.

There are so many Marley songs I love but the one that sums up his music for me is Redemption Song. In Marley's own words, "All I ever have, ever have, ever have, this song of freedom, redemption song".

I have so many favorite Marley songs. I adore Could you be Loved, and Redemption Song for its poignant lyrics. Punky Reggae Party is the best song for dancing, and my children like Three Little Birds. My oldest daughter was named after the song Kaya, which means enlightenment.

I have so many favorite songs that carry a wide range of emotions and feeling... However, Three Little Birds is my official favorite. Besides the uplifting theme that "Every little thing's gonna be alright," I absolutely melted hearing my soon-to-be 2 year old daughter trying her best to sing along last month. Long live the spirit and music of Robert Nesta!

"Three Little Birds" is a favorite in our house. My 3-year old daughter asks for me to sing it to her every night at bedtime. :) "Don't worry 'bout a thing, 'cause every little thing gonna be all right..." is just what she needs to hear before going to sleep. Thank you, Bob, for your gift of music.

"No Woman, No Cry." I heard a singer in "L" train platform singing the most soulful version of this I had every heard. Towards the end of the song, he riffed on the lyrics and was clearly singing from a painful experience. I was having a rough time in my life and started to cry. I put some money in his guitar case and noticed his name looked South African and I too, am South African.
