Whole Chickens on Sale This Friday Only

By Jennifer Cheng, November 7, 2011  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Jennifer Cheng
Whole (uncooked) chickens will be on sale this Friday for $1.29 per pound. It’s a one day only sale and there’s a 10 whole chickens per person limit, so make sure you get up early with the roosters on Friday, November 11th to pick up your chicken! $x.xx = amount of savings will vary All of the chicken we sell at Whole Foods Market has been certified to the Global Animal Partnership’s 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating program! That means that the chicken you'll find in our stores had plenty of room to flap their wings, run around, scratch, peck and forage. When you serve our chicken at your table, you’ll be serving chicken raised on a vegetarian diet with no animal by-products in their feed, no solutions or injections and no antibiotics, ever. Federal regulations don’t allow the use of added growth hormones in chicken, but we wouldn’t do that anyway! To me, a whole chicken represents a world of possibility. I’ll never forget the very first time that I proudly pulled a whole roasted chicken out of the oven. Juicy and golden-hued, it was a beautiful sight. I almost didn’t want to eat it (but I’m glad I did)! After you grab a chicken (or 10) during our one-day sale, will you roast it, braise it, fry it or turn it into soup? Here are some recipe ideas to get you thinking and your mouth watering: Baked Maple Chicken with Wild Rice and Bartlett Pear Pilaf Chili and Lime Grilled Chicken Oven-Fried Chicken Coffee-Rubbed Roasted Chicken Home-Style Roasted Chicken with Vegetables Peruvian-Style Roasted Chicken with Sweet Onions Baked Parmesan-Crusted Chicken Whole Grilled Chicken Golden Chicken Broth Grilled Chicken with Fresh Herbs Baked Chicken with Pomegranate Glaze Oh and while you’re in the store admiring our poultry, make sure you order your Thanksgiving turkey! You can stop by our holiday ordering table to order your turkey in-store or order turkeys online at wholefoodsmarket.com/shop. Don’t forget, our one day only sale on whole chickens is this Friday, November 11th!

I do not see that these are Organic Chickens. Veg fed is swell, but Nothing fed GMO corn, enters my home. Whole Foods is a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home. Does anyone know if these (or do they cary, ORGANIC - non GMO fed) Thanks!

@Delorna Most of the chickens sold will be our "natural" chickens. However, you'll want to contact your store directly to learn if the options are different where you shop. The link below will help you identify the contact information for your store. Happy hunting! www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores

@Shelly They are our natural free-range chickens. The brands will vary from region to region as they are sourced separately.

The statement "All of the chicken we sell at Whole Foods Market has been certified to the Global Animal Partnership’s 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating program!" is misleading. It implies that all of the chicken sold at Whole Foods is level 5, which it is not. It should say that the chicken sold uses the certification of the GAP 5-step rating program. Went to purchase the whole chicken on sale, found it was level 2.I was disappointed and felt the advertisement was very misleading.

Helpful information. Fortunate me I found your site unintentionally, and I am surprised why this accident didn't happened in advance! I bookmarked it.
