I've grown up with a strong connection to the ocean. The warm sand, the waves, and the picnic food you bring!! Some of my favorites are: chips and sour cream dip, cola, fresh fruit, and sandwiches.

Our family has been going to my in-laws lake house in New Hampshiref for 10 plus years. There are 13 grandchildren in all that also go there too. The kids swim all day long, jumping off the dock, rope swing or whatever platform they can find. After a long day of swimming they love the organic hotdogs, annie;s fish treats (all varieties) and honest kids juice boxes. I love anything at whole foods!

I pack in plenty of fruit - fresh and /or dried, water and granola bars. For protien I will pack a variety of nuts. Items I call "pool fuel." We are not real close to any beach but spend a huge amount of time at our subdivision pool.

Oh this is easy! Fresh fruit! We just love sitting on the beach and reaching into the cooler for a cold strawberry, grape, melon slice, grapefruit or orange! The sun really brings out the wonderful flavors in fruit! My daughter especially loves to come in from playing out in the sand to a tray full of veggies and a bowl of popcorn!

When I was a kid, we used to bring a bucket of fried chicken to the beach. My dad would make a small fire in the sand to reheat it. Now that I have children, I am not so brave. We usually stick with PB & J sandwiches and fruit. Pun intended. ;)

Ah, to take on a water filled outing? All zipped up in a waterproof (preferably eco friendly)... Granola bars, cut up organic fruit, filtered water in re-usable water bottles and all natural sunscreen for body and lips - along with my hair up in a ponytail! :-)

I like a classic sandwich (smoked turkey/roast beef/ham) or a chicken wrap with some interesting condiments to pump up the flavor (basil aioli/hot house dressing or french/hot peach chutney), Chips (BBQ Popped chips), flavored San Pellegrino waters (lemon and orange), splits of champagne (Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin Brut Yellow Label)and for dessert: big organic strawberries, and chocolate dipped macaroons! Yum!!

If we are headed to the beach, our family loves watermelon and lots of water and ice tea with fresh mint from the garden. Toss in some homemade protein bars for a nutritious snack later!

My dad is dying from cancer, so i would bring a journal so i could write down all the happy times we have had, he taught me how to cook and bake and the smell of coffee, pancakes and homemade maple syrup would wake me up, so i would pack a picnic basket of those items, so i could sit back and remember my special days with my dad.
