Summer is meant for fun, relaxation, family time (beach, biking, hiking). The best is the veggies and fruit that are in season. Grillin' veggies for dinner and fruit for dessert... who could ask for anything more!

Sarah Clarke says …

cubed watermelon!

Joan Ballou says …

Old nostalgic favorites like fried chicken, potato salad, deviled eggs, veggie crudites, plenty of cold fresh fruit and brownies. During the day plenty of water and juice for the kids. But when evening rolls around we break out the very chilled pinot grigio!

Whitney says …

Always have to bring sliced watermelon to the beach...not only is it a great healthy snack but it also keeps me hydrated while I'm baking in the sun (with SPF of course).

I like to bring trail mix, brie, frenchbread, and of course, fresh fruits My other favorite foods are chips, any kind such as potato, kettlechips, and or caramel popcorn. My other favorites include potato salad if I can keep it cool, and fresh lunch meat for sandwiches. Fruit drinks are important too! Cool and chilled!

Ice Cold Fresh Fruit is the best food to take to the beach! Especially when it's super hot outside, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes and apples are just so nice and refreshing.

When I pack for a full day on the boat, I bring lots of fresh fruit and a huge salad with a simple lemon juice dressing -- foods that will keep me hydrated and won't bloat me out while I'm hanging out in my bikini. I also make sure to have plenty of coconut water on hand to keep away dry mouth. (And I never forget my wide-rimmed hat to give my face and hair a break from the sun.)

My favorite beach foods are strawberries, watermelon and peaches! Thanks!

Andrea F. says …

Fruit is a must! The juicier the better, cause you can wash the stickiness off right in the water.

Brandon says …

The best foods to take to the beach are the ones that compliment the occasion. We like to go to the lake and take the boat and ski and tube all day. Then, we'll break out the portable grill and enjoy snacks, burgers, and dogs, and ice cold beverages on the beach. But our favorite foods to take to the beach, just might be included in this basket!

Bringing tuna fish sandwiches to the beach has a nostalgic feeling for me; when we were little, my Mom always brought them to the beach for us!

Cut up watermelon and cataloupe are summer beach faves! And if we've planned ahead of time, we'll fill water bottles half-way and pop them in the freezer, then top them off in the morning. They keep cold as the ice melts, and help keep anything else in the cooler cold as well.

Rose says …

We are heading to the beach in Mexico next week and we always take chips and homemade salsa, salty snacks and lots of fruits with some Coronas and lime. :) Those under 21 love to have "mock" pina coladas. :) We also take coconut water so no one gets dehydrated! :(

My favorite food to bing to the beach is a BLT. It is ot just any BLT but made with home made bread, home cured bacon and tomatos from the garden. I like to wash it down with a couple of microbeers. It does not get any better than that.

Sandwiches, chip + cold beer, ah!

Nothing hits the spot after sand-castle building and a swim in the surf like a chunky peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Add some cool water.......... or lemonade, some cucumber spears and celery sticks with a sprinkling of sea salt, and a juicy peach, and I'm well satisfied.

William Kiesgen says …

I like taking homemade popsicles to the beach. They are cold and fruity and really cool you off!

My must have snacks for any outdoor outing are: larabars, a big fruit salad, a grain and bean salad with lots of fresh vegetables and sparkling waters.

Robyn I says …

My beach basket usually calls for sandwiches, fruit, chips, water, and a dessert. I try to stay away from sticky foods since the sand gets into everything if there's a breeze.

Ellen says …

On a summer jaunt to the beach I pack my cooler with plenty of water, often with a touch of lemon, ginger and mint. A couple of juicy mangoes or perhaps some chilled watermelon. For energy, always some dark chocolate.

I like to replace mayo with Pesto and use with lean meat, cheese and spinach for colorful roll ups packed with Protein. Cut veggies and Spinach dip are refreshing and cool, and popcorn is perfect for seasoning based on individualized preference, as no one minds carrying their own! I keep a collapsable water bowl velcroed in my beach bag for my canine companion...and yea...turkey/sweet potato treats as well!!!

Buddy says …

I always take burgers to the beach.

April says …

We love crunchies! Fresh and sometimes frozen fruits (grapes, melon, etc) granola mixes, spicy almonds, wasabi peas, frozen gogurts, lots of waters and electrolyte drinks!

Erica says …

Frozen grapes are the absolute best on a hot day at the beach. I also like cut up oranges and apples, celery and carrots...anything that refreshes, nourishes, and hydrates all at the same time.

Deborah Pierce says …

Frozen cucumber, cantaloupe and chili beverage/slushy. Or, watermelon. Cheese or tzatziki on Wasa crackers. Cream cheese and olives on something - ?celery.

Kathy Santos says …

I like to pack some granola bars for the ride to the beach so that I don't have to stop anywhere for breakfast. I also take along some fruit snacks and trail mix to munch on for a quick fix on the beach. We definitely pack bug spray if we stay a little after sundown and while the sun is up we use sunblock. The kids drink lots of liquids and munch on fruit salads because the beach makes them thirsty.

Lucia Jackson says …

My favorite foods are water, fresh fruits and granola bars.
