A trip to whole foods the night before would include bottled water, tortilla,Whole Foods pre made guacamole, Applegate deli ham, turkey and cheese, a loaf of Iggy's Bread,(to make sandwiches),and fresh fruit for dessert (strawberries, blueberries,or fruit of choice), For a family of four should cost less than $30 if only buying deli portions for four sandwiches which comes to $7.50 a person. Nothing healthy bought at the beaches in comparison is as deliciousness, healthy or the costly. Whole Foods is the best.....the salad bar thrown in a cooler is another cost effective option with a great variety. The beach just isn't the same without a trip to Whole Foods first.....the kids will tell you....don't break the routine,

I enjoy making fresh homemade lemonade with lots of ice for those hot summer days. I also enjoy snacking on Kettle chips and I would make fruit salad to take to the beach or just eat in the backyard.

Growing up we always packed a huge lunch of sandwiches and cookies and chips and soda to drink. But as an adult who is a bit more concerned about what she eats, my cooler is packed with very different things. I love to pack a nice fruit salad with loads of berries and melons. It is very refreshing to eat when out in the sun all day. I do pack sandwiches, but they are not bologna and American cheese on white bread like growing up. I go for uncured honey ham and all natural cheese on whole wheat or a nice chicken salad with dried cranberries, celery, walnuts, and canola mayo and put that on a whole wheat roll. Bottles of water that I freeze the night before the keep cold or vitamin water for my son and husband. And cookies....my son and husband want the cookies, so I get them the Newman's Own mint cream filled cookies.

There is nothing I love more than a day out on the boat and bathing in the sun! I always bring plenty of flavored water- rasberry is my favorite! Also baked chips, fruit (watermelon and apples manly), celery and carrots. Popcorn can be fun too! If its a long day than I always pack a variety of pre-cut sandwhiches.... yum yum!

With 3 young boys, we visit the beach or pool quite frequently. We always need lots of snacks. My boys love granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, crackers, cheese, yogurts and lots and lots of water to keep those little kiddie hydrated!

I honestly think that any food tastes better when you are at the beach, because, well....you get to be at the beach. Yeah!!! I love pistachio nuts and beef jerky. Really easy and delicous quick snax to throw in your bag.

Ahh...the beach!! Juicy fruit, lot's to drink, depending on the beach b-b-q treats, maybe a picnic, or on the go treats. I love making a fruit salad with jicama, watermelon, cucumbers, cantelope, and blueberries. Chill the salad for a few hours and you will enjoy it all the more. A spicy bean dip, blue corn tortilla chips, edamame, fruit leathers, and we're covered.

With four kids we always take a variety - usually fresh fruit, trail mix, granola bars and fruit snacks. The fruit snacks are the best answer to candy - keeps them happy which keeps me happy. My kids also love granola bars and the 365 brand has the price I like with healthy ingredients. And plenty of water of course.
