My boyfriend's backyard is a haven away from the bustling city of New York. Huntington, Long Island reminds me of fresh avocado, tomatot and onion salad with lemon/honey/dill vinaigrette and mango margaritas in the pool.

Anything that sand will not stick to :o) Cold melon in a cooler, sandwiches, special-treat snacks like chips, cheese twists. Lots and lots of cold beverages - being in the saltwater always makes me thirsty.

Veggie sandwiches are the best! Especially on crusty whole-grain rolls sprinkled with olive oil. Fresh fruit, kept icy cold in a 1/2 gal. thermal jug filled with ice water & sliced lemons. And of course, my weakness and addiction, potato chips.

We love packing fresh cut up fruit, whole berries mixed with grapes, finger sandwiches, chips, cookies, lots of cold water bottles and sometimes a frozen concoction in a thermos for a refreshing beverage, like perhaps some lime juice, mint from the garden, a pureed peach or two, ice and seltzer. A bag of homemade nuts, dried cranberry, m&ms and sunflower seeds for energy and we are all set for a fun day!

I love being on the water anywhere, especially on a boat. We always take cookies & fruit with us when are spending the day out on the water. Anything light & fresh, snack stuff mostly. When I'm out on the water all day, I don't want to be weighed down by a lot of food.
