cherries and strawberries dipped in Green & Black chocolate, semi-dried apricots stuffed with greek yogurt & pistachios, and physalis (ground cherry) dipped in caramel make the perfect desert for BBQs. This can all be made hours before guests arrive, and tempts everyone who thinks they're too full for desert.

My favorite party snack is Texas Caviar which can be served with scoop-shaped corn chips or sliced baguettes. Everyone loves it, and it works perfectly for a New Year's Eve party because one of the ingredients is black-eyed peas, and black-eyed peas are the first food to be eaten in the New Year for luck. I also bring English Toffee for a favorite party dessert item.

Christine says …

Warm spinach dip with artichokes or shrimp.

Dee S says …

Cheese and meat trays and crudites!

My family loves it when I make a cold taco dip. Cream cheese, sour cream & cottage cheese all blended with a pouch of taco seasoning then spread on a platter. Topped with shredded cheese & lettuce, chopped tomatoes, green scallions, & black olives. I always make it look pretty with some marinated mild & spicy peppers around the edges & serve with my favorite tortilla chips.

My Family has what we call snack nite, when we've had day on the lake, tubing, hot tired and not wanting to make a big dinner, or even a small dinner. We have shrimp, the spicy Old Bay from WF. A cheese platter, 3 kinds as my family all have different tastes, WF carries our fav the cheeseman wedge, the boys have to have their cheddar and a soft cheese, usually Borisni (sp). Roasted Red Pepper Hummus with pita chips along with veggies and a dill dip. We graze and sit back and enjoy each others company.

The best party serves gucamole and fresh salsa. And it's always a special treat to have spring rolls with spicy thai dip. Usually when I throw a party I make pico de gallo and hummus and serve with homemade tortilla chips sprinkled with a pinch of cumin. I'm hungry now!

Almost every party I host (and we host a lot of parties!) has a few staple snacks. Here are my go-to staples, whether they're homemade or store bought for a last minute party: hummus (usually 2 kinds) crudite platter salsa (ALWAYS!) guacamole organic corn chips flavored seltzer water wine galore beer for the boys (and the girls :)) salad (not regular salad but a pasta salad, black bean salad, mango corn salad, etc.) Love to cook so I always get these staples and then make 1 or 2 "special" dishes.

Nicole says …

Hummus and pita bread is a must!

Linda Lukas says …

Nothing better than a hot Tex Mex dip, cold clam dip, or a hot artichoke dip! Unless, of course? It's a Super Bowl party-then I have to go with the football field with two teams playing. Twinkles, chips and cheetos, guacamole for the field, beef sticks for the goal posts and oh tue teams -cut beef sticks put in tue guacamole with little cheese helmets on top! So much fun!!

Rachel says …

I tend to favor the traditional cheese and crackers. But the cheese selection is always top-notch (and easily becomes pricey). I'm partial to Manchego and two or three other options. I'm also a sucker for the incredibly salty and delicious olive bread from my local Italian bakery!
