Saturday, March 1st
8:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Whole Foods Market Carmel, FREE

One Dime at a Time Fundraiser: Bring your own bags and donate the bag credit!

This program provides an incentive to reuse grocery bags and develop stronger communities. At the register, you have the option to receive a 10¢ per reusable bag refund, or you can choose to donate your refund to that quarter’s selected local non-profit organization.

The two Indiana stores are delighted to support January, February & March’s recipient: Second Starts. Second Starts supplies basic housewares to previously homeless individuals & families who are now ready for a Second Start, allowing a meager paycheck to go towards rent, utilities and groceries. This all-volunteer organization serves hundreds of families each year and is funded solely donations with 100% going towards the cause (not one penny is used for wages, salary or bonus). Want to volunteer or have housewares to donate? Get involved at secondstarts.org.

After a recent delivery, when the last box was set on the bare floor of a family’s new apartment, that clearly had nothing at all, the volunteer said, “Enjoy. Hope this helps.” and turned to leave. At this time, it is not uncommon for a recipient to say, “Thank you,” but in this case it was just silence as the volunteer headed towards the door. Looking back, the volunteer saw the woman hunched down on the floor next to the boxes, sobbing in gratitude for the unmatched plates, dented pans, threadbare sheets and other items that had been delivered; items that many of us would consider tossing in the trash. Thanks to your donation, this is the impact we are having on the lives of people who have known nothing but despair for too long. Thank you for helping them with a Second Start.

2014 Whole Planet Foundation Prosperity Campaign
Saturday, March 1st
8:00 AM
Whole Foods Market Carmel, FREE

We are fundraising for the Whole Planet Foundation to alleviate poverty by empowering entrepreneurs with no-interest
microloans. Microcredit is a hand up, not a hand out. It is not charity. It empowers impoverished people to change their own lives by starting or expanding a small business. With an average microloan of $175 in the developing world a woman can lift herself and her family out of poverty. The average repayment rate is 96% and the funds stay in that community helping more & more people. It is truly sustainable giving. Learn more or give online at www.wholeplanetfoundation.org

Last year, customers witnessed us earn the Guinness World Records® title for largest number of wheels simultaneously cracked! Breaking into an 85-pound wheel of our 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano is a centuries-old art that uses 5 official tools so the internal crystalline structure and crumbly texture is left intact. Shoppers are invited to gather around to watch the cracking & enjoy samples. For more info & to enter to win a trip to Italy visit http://wholefoodsmarket.com/mightiestcheese
