In Tadashi Ono and Harris Salat’s Japanese Soul Cooking (Ten Speed Press), the pair takes us into the unique and delicious world of authentic Japanese comfort foods. From steaming bowls of noodles found at neighborhood dives to dumplings or savory pancakes sold at street-side stalls, this irresistible style of cooking has legions of devoted fans in Japan and abroad. Join us tonight as we tackle a few of our favorite dishes from Ono and Salat’s acclaimed 2013 cookbook.

On the Menu: Kake Soba with Ebi Furai (Soba Noodle Soup with Panko-Fried Shrimp); Tadashi’s Lamb Curry; Lettuce Salad with Ginger-Carrot Dressing; Osaka-Style Okonomiyaki (Meat-Cabbage Pancakes).

Instructor: Wai Chu, Culinary Center Educator
