What’s 85 pounds, round and edible? (Hint: a big cheese) This is the sixth year Whole Foods Market is celebrating Parmigiano Reggiano from Italy by holding a wheel cracking with its crack heard around the world at all of our stores globally. Most Parms are aged 12 months but Whole Foods Market ages our wheels 24 months for an amazing flavor. If you’ve never tasted our freshly cut parm, make sure to stop by for a chunk of cheese!

Stop by our Specialty department today as we break into a wheel of our 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano. There is a centuries-old art to opening the cheese wheels by using official tools (five different types of knives) so the internal crystalline structure and crumbly texture is left intact.
