November 2 is National Deviled Eggs Day

Devilish but divine - November 2 is National Deviled Eggs Day.

Don't fear these wicked treats based on the name. Deviled eggs are the perfect snack to keep on hand during the holidays for your family or those friends that just love to drop in ... any time they want.

"Deviled" actually refers to a technique coined in the 1800s. Apparently, using hot spices was enough to classify anything with paprika or other notorious additions as "deviled."

Today, deviled eggs are made by hard-boiling eggs, and then peeling them, slicing lengthwise and popping out the yolks. Save these to mash up with mayonnaise and mustard, or your filling components of choice, then spoon the filling back into the egg "cups." You can top these babies with pickle relish, minced onion, chipotle chiles, olives, pimentos, cayenne pepper or cilantro.
