Every Whole Foods Market location will simultaneously crack and sample over 400 wheels of authentic Parmigiano Reggiano on Saturday, March 9th at 2PM CST. At the River Forest location, three cheese specialists will go head-to-head racing to open their wheel first and win the title of Big Cheese. This cracking will be submitted for official Guinness World Record review.
Parmigiano Reggiano is the king of cheese. Aged for at least 24 for months, to ensure intense taste and texture, this cheese is the pride of Italian cheese makers. Every wheel is individually inspected for quality, ensuring that only wheels that meet strict Italian D.O.C laws are stamped with approval and labeled Parmigiano Reggiano.
The best tastes can be found from the center of the wheel, seconds after cracking. Samples from each wheel’s center will be provided to spectators. Wine will also be paired with this sampling. Must be 21+ to participate in wine tasting.
