Take a trip to the Persian Gulf, where the dishes and ingredients closely resemble those of Pakistan, India, and Northern Africa, but with a distinctly fragrant dash of saffron and the bright flavors of tamarind and lemon. This is the food of coastal Southern Iran, where Louisa Shafia, author of 2013’s acclaimed cookbook The New Persian Kitchen, spent some time this past spring. Let Louisa show you how to create a uniquely Persian menu of fresh, healthy food full of surprising flavors, and get deliciously acquainted with this fascinating cuisine.

On the Menu: Ghaliyeh Meygu (Shrimp with Tamarind and Chiles); Dal Adas (Red Lentil Soup with Curry, Potatoes, Tomato Paste, Garlic, and Ginger); Oven-Roasted Fish with Onions, Lemon, Fenugreek, and Coriander; Saffron Rice with Crispy Tahdig; Ranginak (Dates with a Roux of Toasted Spices and Sugar).
