Your best meal of this week may just be my best meal of next week. Best, of course, is highly subjective. It could be healthy, super quick, inexpensive, fabulously delicious - or a combination of all that and more. Whatever your criteria, we want to hear about your Best Meal of the Week. We'll do this post from time to time and we'll feature ideas from readers as well as include some of our own. From Kimberley, a reader:

Thanks to all of our customers who take the time to share their thoughts with us. From time to time, we'll share some of your feedback on our Whole Story blog. This one comes from J.S., a customer in Massachusetts. To Whom It May Concern, My favorite chore of the week is shopping at Whole Foods in Hingham, Massachusetts. I am dedicated to quality food for myself and my family and enjoy my shopping experience there (the employees are awesome, especially Cheryll in the Deli!) and also the quality of the foods that I serve to my family.

We had a lot of fun with our first ever Live Blog: Ask the Expert. Angela Rakis, a Purchasing team member from our Northeast region, did a great job answering questions about value shopping in our stores. If you missed it, you can check out the transcript below.

When I wake up on cold mornings in the middle of winter, it's hard to force myself to get out from underneath the warm blankets. Having a hot breakfast helps make the morning bearable. Did you know that skipping breakfast can contribute to weight gain because you end up snacking and eating larger meals later in the day? Without breakfast, you also may not be at the top of your game. A respected European study showed better performance and cognitive ability in people who ate carbohydrates with protein for breakfast.

Great news for recyclers out there! Some of our Whole Foods Market stores are piloting a new program for recycling #5 plastic with Preserve called Gimme 5. If you don’t have the recycling numbers memorized (like me), #5 is commonly used in containers for yogurt, cottage cheese, hummus, medicine bottles, etc.

Pick up a newspaper, open a magazine or log on to the internet and everywhere people are talking about ways to “go green in 2009.” Yeah! The more the merrier. A simple way to get all of your friends and family involved in saving our planet is by reusing shopping bags. If you are like me, you visited a relative (who will remain unnamed) over the holidays who doesn’t recycle or reuse anything. Felt like the dark ages!

Some people make very specific New Year’s resolutions. Not me. I’m more the type who knows that I want to improve things about my life but I leave it kind of open and general – who knows what could come up! Yet, after indulging in too many wonderful treats over the holidays, I definitely feel a need to focus on getting back to eating sane, healthy foods. So, I was thrilled when I heard about a tasty fish we are featuring in January: Arctic Char.
