Rachael applied for a summer job at Whole Foods Market because she loved grocery shopping and thought it would be a cool place to work while she went to school. She fell in love with her job and now she has a BA in Music and she is still with the company working on the Customer Information Team at the Global Headquarters in Austin, TX. She appreciates working at Whole Foods Market because she is always learning new and interesting things from her coworkers, and gets to combine her love of writing and food with her work. If you don’t find her trying a new recipe when she’s off the clock, then you’ll probably find her at a local swimming hole, practicing music, or working at her sewing machine.

Canola oil comes from a specifically bred variety of rapeseed, which is part of the mustard family along with kale, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts. Rapeseed oil has been a part of traditional diets in Eastern Europe, especially Poland, India, Japan, China and Canada for thousands of years.

Gluten refers to proteins found in wheat, rye, barley and sometimes oats. Although oats do not actually have gluten proteins themselves, they can often be cross-contaminated with gluten-containing grains during harvest, storage or processing.

Let’s put a rest to some rumors! I answer customer questions here at Whole Foods Market. Lately we’ve been hearing from a lot of customers who’ve seen a news story about our frozen vegetables coming from China. It’s actually an inaccurate four year-old news story that has resurfaced and is making its way around the internet again. I‘m posting here in the hopes of setting the record straight. The story, which first aired on ABC affiliate WJLA in 2008, paints the picture that organics from China are not possible. This is simply not true.

I work on the team in our Global Headquarters that answers customer emails, calls, and letters sent to our office. As I'm sure you can imagine my job can get hectic at times. However, I recently received this letter from one of our customers. When I opened the letter it brought a moment of pause to my day.
