In partnership with Virginia Beach City Public Schools and Cardiovascular Associates of Virginia, Whole Foods Market is hosting a one-time screening of the full-length documentary “Lunch Hour: America’s School Lunch Program” on Tues., Sept. 24 at the IMAX Theater inside the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center, 717 General Booth Blvd., Virginia Beach. The film’s writer and director James Costa will be in attendance to introduce the feature and answer questions afterwards. The event is free and open to the public.
According to Costa, America’s “national school lunch program” exposes children to unhealthy, but culturally accepted foods at a young age. His film questions this as the root of the childhood obesity crisis and examines what causes the cravings for unhealthy foods. Costa interviewed school officials, politicians, doctors, celebrity chefs, authors and others for the film who share what they’re doing to problem solve this predicament.
Please note this event will take place at the IMAX Theater at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Museum, 717 General Booth Blvd. Doors will open at 6 pm with an introduction to the film by James Costa. He will answer your questions following the film. Viewing is free but tickets are requested. Sign up today at http://
