Chipotle Chili Bean Dip

Serves 8 to 10

The smoky and rich flavor of chipotle chiles gives this dip an unusual and complex taste. Serve with chips, raw vegetables or pita bread.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups (cooked) chickpeas, drained and rinsed well
2 small chipotle chiles in adobo with juice
2 tablespoons tahini
2 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce or to taste
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 1/2 cups (cooked) no-salt-added black beans, drained and rinsed well

Method

Place chickpeas, chipotle chilies, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, water, olive oil, hot sauce and salt in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a metal blade. Pulse until the mixture is blended well but is still slightly coarse. Add the black beans and pulse until the beans are combined but still coarse. Serve.
