-
Mixed Fruit Smoothie

Use any favorite fruits such as peaches, raspberries or bananas to make this creamy smoothie. If the fruit you choose is particularly sweet, omit the honey.
-
Sangria

Save your best bottle for another day. For sangria, use a reasonably priced, reasonably good unoaked red wine with fruity, spicy notes. When peaches aren't in season, a ripe pear or an apple is a good substitute. We've added orange liqueur, which imparts a sweet citrus punch. You may leave it out if you wish.
-
Watermelon Lemonade

Oh boy, oh boy! It’s truly the best of summer when you can have lemonade and watermelon at once. Be sure to taste the watermelon first. If it’s very sweet, reduce the sugar. Offer some refreshment to the planet and economy by going organic and local when you can.
-
Jingle Bell Bellini

Made in a minute, this quick and easy concoction draws a desirable “wow” factor when the textured, lightly sweet, edible hibiscus flower is sparked into action by the bubbles!
-
Easy Elf Punch

A flavorful, colorful and economical non-alcoholic punch for any occasion.
-
Mango Agua Fresca

This light, refreshing drink popularized in Central America is a terrific thirst quencher on a hot summer day. The trick with making agua fresca (Spanish for "fresh water") is to infuse the water with fruit essence without turning it into a smoothie or slushy drink. Feel free to experiment with other flavors such as strawberry, watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew. This recipe was inspired by Maria Gonzales, a street food vendor and Whole Planet Foundation borrower, who lives in León, Nicaragua.
-
Spiced Iced Tea Punch

Maria from Germany sent us this recipe for a perfectly refreshing spiced tea-punch. Keep a batch on hand to enjoy on hot summer afternoons. Blueberry and blackberry tea bags are available in black or green tea versions; both are suited for this recipe.
-
Minted Lime Freeze

On hot summer days, it doesn't get any better than this. Serve these drinks in tall glasses with lots of ice and sprigs of mint for garnish.
-
Hot Spiced Carob

This delicious, warming drink is made from carob rather than cocoa and you may use your choice of dairy, almond or soy milk. The fresh ginger gives it just a little kick and the sprinkling of spices over the top will tickle the tongue. Top with whipped cream, if you like.

Strawberry Watermelon Coolers

Strawberries and watermelon have long been the perfect summer pair. In this light, vitamin-packed homemade cooler, we think they shine particularly bright.
