Vienna Community Giving

Community Giving Programs at Whole Foods Market Northern Virginia

Partnership Opportunities

We are passionate about supporting local causes in the Northern Virginia area that are important to our shoppers and neighbors.  To best fit the needs of our community, we live our philanthropic mission through a variety of giving opportunities:

5% Days

Four times a year, our stores hold a community giving day (otherwise known as a“5% Day”) where five percent of that day’s net sales are donated to a local nonprofit or educational organization. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days. Interested organizations should fill out the 5% Day Application.  Please fill it out electronically and send to candace.child@wholefoods.com. Please note that these fundraisers are very competitive and filling out an application does not guarentee you will be selected.  We will keep your application on file for one year.

Nickels for Non Profit (Reusable Bag Program)

This program provides an incentive to our customers to eliminate single-use paper/plastic bags and develop stronger communities all at the same time. At the register, customers will have the option to receive a 5 cent per bag refund as cash back off their receipt or they can choose to donate it to the selected charity or local school organization. Interested organizations should fill out the Nickels for Non Profit Application.  Please fill it out electronically and send to candace.child@wholefoods.com

Inkind Donations/Sponsorships

We offer various donations to 501(c) 3 organizations. Some examples include:

-Donating goods/services/gift cards to local organizations

   -Sponsoring community events

-Educating adults and children through classes, tours and events

All requests are reviewed on a monthly basis and recipients will be notified as soon as possible. Interested organizations should fill out the donation request form.

** Please be advised that due to the large volume of requests that we receive, we require a minimum of 6-8 weeks advanced notice for any donation. Due to the large volume of applications, our store is unable to accommodate/respond to all donation requests. Submitting an application is the first step in this process and does not guarantee support of any kind from the store.

Food Rescue

Whole Foods Market Northern Virginia partners with multiple Food Pantries to distribute thousands of pounds of food throughout the year to families in need.

TM Volunteer Program

Last but not least, team members are constantly volunteering their time and expertise to an assortment of local non-profits.

If you have questions about our donation policy or have a nonprofit or educational organization you would like us to support, please contact the Marketing Team Leader, Candace Child (candace.child@wholefoods.com.)
