One Dime at A Time: Animals and Society Institute
At Whole Foods Market, customers who reuse their grocery shopping bags receive a ten cent refund per bag and may keep the refund or donate it to a specified One Dime at a Time nonprofit organization. To donate, tell your cashier to apply your bag refund to the One Dime program. Our One Dime recipient for April, May and June is the Animal and Society Institute in Ann Arbor.
The Animals and Society Institute(ASI) is a nonprofit, independent research and educational organization. ASI advances the status of animals in public policy, promotes the study of human-animal relationships. The ASI seeks to advance institutional change for animals. The organization does this by helping to establish the moral and legal rights fundamental to a just, compassionate and peaceful society. ASI is an independent think tank as well as a producer of educational resources, publications and events.
Objectives:
- Stop the cycle of violence between animal cruelty and human abuse
- Learn more about our complex relationship with animals
- Promote new and more stringent animal protection laws

Help Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue From Northville, MI. Make a Deposit in the Dog and Cat Food Collection Bin Located in Our Store
Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit rescue group which was established in January 2007 by a handful of experienced and dedicated animal rescue enthusiasts who have worked in the rescue community for many years. We are volunteers who do this activity in our "spare" time and receive no monetary payment for our activities. Instead, our reward is the knowledge that we have saved a life that otherwise might have been lost.
We do not own a formal shelter. The dogs are kept in a kennel (which we must pay for) until a foster home can be found for them. Needless to say, we are ALWAYS on the lookout for more foster homes so we would never have to utilize a kennel. To find our more, visit our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org.
