  Whole Planet Foundation Fundraising Campaign

  The Whole Planet Foundation's mission is to create economic partnerships with the poor in those developing-world communities that supply our stores with product. Through innovative assistance for entrepreneurship - including direct microcredit loans and tangible support for other community partnership projects - we seek to unleash the energy and creativity of every human being we work with in order to create wealth and prosperity in emerging economies.  Please consider making a tax deductible donation at our register throughout the campaign!

• Wednesday, March 3rd

  A 5% CommUnity Day for Fonkoze, a Whole Planet Foundation partner

  ALL DAY

  Fonkoze is "Haiti's Alternative Bank for the Organized Poor." The formation of Fonkoze has been guided by support from Grameen Trust and Grameen Foundation USA. It is the largest microfinance institution (MFI) in Haiti, serving more than 55,000 women borrowers, most of who live and work in the countryside of Haiti, and more than 175,000 savers. 5% of today's net sales will benefit this great organization.

  Ice Cream Social to benefit Whole Planet Foundation

  3:00 to 5:00 p.m. & 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. $2 suggested donation

  Thanks to our generous LOCAL partners at Gifford's Ice Cream, we'll be creating a delicious ice cream bar with all of your favorite toppings.  Please consider a donation of $2, which will directly benefit Whole Planet Foundation, providing micro-credits to 18 countries in the developing world.

• Saturday, March 13th & Wednesday, March 31st

  Whole Planet Foundation Meet & Event: A Tasting Event

  12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. & 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. $1 suggested donation per tasting

  Join us as we share the delicious food and vibrant culture of our 18 Whole Planet Foundation countries.  Generous tastings from around the globe will be offered for a suggested donation of $1 per tasting.  Complimentary recipes will accompany the tastings for you to shop and try at home.

  Whole Foods Market Bethesda offers Store Tours to complement what children are learning in the classroom.  Tours are available for local schools and community organizations. Nickels for Non-Profits is a new program that allows you to turn your reusable bag refund into a contribution to a local charitable organization.  This month's recipients are St. Luke's House of Bethesda and Mover Moms.  Reusable bags are good for the environment and now they're good for your community too!  Ask your cashier how you can make your contribution today.   If you would like to nominate a local organization as a recipient of Nickels for Non-Profits, please email Jill Ward.

 

FEED 100 bags are now only $10!  1 bag=100 meals for children in Rwanda through the UN's World Food Program.
