Common Ground is a pioneer in the development of supportive housing. Their network of well-designed, affordable apartments - linked with the services people need to restore their health and maintain economic independence - has enabled more than 4,000 individuals to overcome homelessness. Whole Foods Market is a company with a conscience, we believe passionately in supporting the communities we serve. A percentage of our sales are used to benefit non-profit organizations on a monthly basis.
Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these designated days. Our 5% Days are planned far in advance and fall into themed categories, including Farms & Harvest, Environment, Hunger & Homelessness, and Education. If you would like to be considered for a 5% Day, please send information about your organization, along with a completed donation application form, to the Marketing Team Leader in the appropriate store.

Peculiar Works Presents ... The Bowery: History & Performance

Dutch farmland, Yiddish theater, appliance assembly line, burlesque dancers, Russian movies, parked cars and now organic produce-all of these have had unique stories at this site : Houston at Bowery & Chrystie. Friday, November 6th, the students of Trinity/LaMama Urban Arts Semester will present a final performance project for their site-specific master class as a tribute to the neighborhood and its rich history. The original, promenade-style performance will be open to patrons to watch or to pass by. Short scenes, songs, monologues, dances, poems and more will be popping up in the aisles, counters, and cafés; offering patrons a unique glimpse into this local community's history. Take a tour through the ripe vegetables, past the juicy meats, and down the memory lane that runs along Houston Street between the Bowery and Chrystie Street.
