Dutch farmland, Yiddish theater, appliance assembly line, burlesque dancers, Russian movies, parked cars and now organic produce-all of these have had unique stories at this site : Houston at Bowery & Chrystie. Friday, November 6^th, the students of Trinity/LaMama Urban Arts Semester will present a final performance project for their site-specific master class as a tribute to the neighborhood and its rich history. The original, promenade-style performance will be open to patrons to watch or to pass by.  Short scenes, songs, monologues, dances, poems and more will be popping up in the aisles, counters, and cafés; offering patrons a unique glimpse into this local community's history. Take a tour through the ripe vegetables, past the juicy meats, and down the memory lane that runs along Houston Street between the Bowery and Chrystie Street.

Join us Tuesday, November 10^th for a Thanksgiving taste.  We'll be carving a Whole Foods Market free range turkey and sharing some tips on preparing it to perfection from 6 to 8.  Our exclusive Jaindl Farms birds are raised in Pennsylvania, on an all-natural diet with no antibiotics or hormones.  Come have a taste and place your order at the Holiday Table for Thanksgiving day!

The main event this Thanksgiving is on the side of the plate.  Come taste a variety of our Thanksgiving sides, desserts and breads on Thursday, November 12^th.  We'll be sampling dishes off the Thanksgiving menu available for order at the Holiday Table or online.  Think pies, mashed potatoes, green beans, vegan options and more.

For shoppers, the holidays can seem stressful.  But for the over 1 million hungry New Yorkers who rely on emergency food each year, there may not be much of a holiday to plan.  This Thanksgiving, Whole Foods Market Bowery partners with East Village Chiropractic by giving back to City Harvest, New York City's first and only food rescue organization serving our city for over 25 years. Massage therapists from EVC will be offering chair massages in our Whole Body department in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving with a 5 dollar donation fee going directly to City Harvest to help rescue and deliver even more food this holiday season.

Currently, City Harvest helps feed over 260,000 hungry men, women, and children each week.  Last year hungry New Yorkers made close to 1.3 million more visits to emergency feeding programs served by City Harvest.  The need for emergency food is sure to remain high in coming months.  This holiday season, City Harvest is committed to increasing our food deliveries - but we need your help.
