  • Congratulations to the Northern VA Culinary Scholarship Winners!

This year, Whole Foods Markets in Northern Virginia pulled together to award 3 scholarships to Fairfax County high school seniors bound for culinary school. The stores split $14,000 among the top 3 applicants that go through a recipe contest and a cook-off event that culminates in announcing a winner! All 3 participants in the cook-off event are awarded a scholarship - $8000 for first place, $4000 for second, and $2000 for third, plus a Whole Foods Market chef coat, of course!

  • New Artwork in Our Café

Look for fresh, new art in our "gallery" café, brought to us by a great area nonprofit: Empowered Women International. The Empowered Women International Gallery at Whole Foods Market Fair Lakes features artists from our area who have participated in a special program through the nonprofit to teach women and immigrant women how to start and maintain a business based on their creativity. There is also a gallery in the city of Alexandria. For more information on how to get involved, visit www.ewint.org . And look for EWI to visit us in October for a 5% Community Giving Day!

  • Whole Foods Market's Commitment To Local

Stop by any of our stores this summer and you're sure to see an increase in our local products. We're situated in a great spot to get the best of what the area has to offer, so check it out and you may just find a new favorite product - made in your neighborhood! These local products aren't limited to our produce department either: we have spice rubs, cheeses, meats and coffee, plus prepared foods make with local product. You can taste and see the difference when you taste these local goodies!

  • Recycle Your Old Cell Phones with Secure the Call!

Please bring your old cell phones to be recycled and keep them from ending up in a landfill. Secure the Call is an all volunteer, non-profit organization that takes your donated phone and redistributes free used cell phones to the community for the purpose of calling 911 in the case of an emergency. The organization carefully wipes out all of your personal information on your cell phone, then reprograms it so that the phone can call 911 only, then tests them to make sure they work before shipping them out. The phones are distributed to partner organizations such as women's shelters, senior citizen centers, sheriff & police departments as well as school systems.

A note about classes, food demonstrations and events:

For Kid's Club classes, children must be accompanied by an adult and there are no age requirements; that is left to the parents' discretion depending on the activity.
