Saturday, May 3rd

The Perfect Cinco de Mayo (Hands on)
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.    $45
Experience some of Mexico’s extraordinary and surprisingly subtle flavor combinations with Oaxacan expert chef Ron Kent. He will guide you through an elegant menu that will include Hors d’oeuvres size Tamales - Vegan Tamale with Roast Butternut Squash, Fresh Corn, Zucchini and Guajillo Salsa; Chicken Tamale with Mole Negro wrapped in Banana Leaves. Antojitos of Quesadillas; Memelas- best described as toasted Oaxacan pizzas; Empanadas with Mole Amarillo and Chicken; Mexican Rice ; Black Beans; and Aqua de Limon.

Cooking with Kids: Cooking with Fruit
11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.    $35
Designed for kids under 14, this menu will show kids how to use sweet seasonal fruit in a variety of healthy and delicious kid-friendly dishes. We’ll teach simple culinary techniques, explore basic properties of food, and help them learn to appreciate the care and craft of cooking in a fun and festive atmosphere.
On the Menu:
  • Chef Gary’s Barbeque Pizza with Pineapple
  • Chicken Tenders with Apricot-Mustard Dipping Sauce
  • Chilled Fruit Soup for Dessert

Join our Professional Guest Chef as we create incredibly flavorful and extraordinarily special Italian heritage dishes, “just-a like-a Mamma used to make.”
On the Menu:
  • Italian Tomato and Bread Soup
  • Individual Lasagnas with Prosciutto, Ricotta, and Spinach Filling, served with San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Béchamel Sauce, and Smoked Mozzarella

Join our Culinary Center team and Guido, The Produce Guy, as we start a new monthly fun and educational series. We will showcase locally grown, in season produce, show you multiple simple and easy ways to prepare natures’ bounty, and answer all your questions, including how to select the best. A light vegetarian supper will be served.

Wine and Cheese 102
7:00–8:30 p.m.    $25
This class is a continuation of our very popular introduction to basic wine and cheese pairing knowledge. Join our Culinary Center team and Whole Foods Market wine buyer, Brian Huang, as we analyze flavor profiles, tasting terms, and basic tools for both wine and cheese. The class will end with a personalized tour and introduction of navigating our Specialty department.

Join us for a sultry evening of enticing food and lively conversation, as our engaging Professional Guest Chef explores the small plates of the quaint taverns of Spain.

  • Scallops and Chorizo with Sherry Pan Sauce
  • “Queso Frito” – Baked Manchego Cheese with Spicy Spanish Marinara

This month, join our Professional Guest Chef as we create a menu that’s perfect for sharing a tailgating party or watching the ballgame with friends.
