Girls Night Out: Fall Soups, Salads and Sides

Kick the fall season off with a fun night out with the girls! Stop by the Specialty Department before class, grab your favorite beverage and come on over to the Lifestyle Center. Learn how to make some delicious seasonal soups, salads and sides. This is a demonstration class. Light meal served.

Common Threads Cooking Class
4:00-6:00 p.m.
Common Threads provides after-school programming to children between 8 and 12 years old. Students learn basic kitchen skills, cooking techniques, and the importance of fresh ingredients as they prepare healthy ethnic cuisine. Our local guest Chef Instructors incorporate nutrition, physical well-being, cooperation, and cultural awareness into lessons that teach our students how to connect with their bodies, their neighbors, and their world in a healthy way.

Chef Linda will teach you how to make a Kiwi Lime Tart, Chocolate Hazelnut Cake with Fudge Frosting, Turtle Truffles, Lemon Cranberry Cookies and Blackberry Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Date Night: Couples Cooking

Bored with the same old date night of dinner and a movie? Learn to cook together in the Lifestyle Center. Chef Stacey will guide you through a three course dinner and offer wine and beer pairing suggestions. Bring some friends and make it a double date! This is a hands on class.

Attendees will experience 6 outstanding examples of Belgian beer styles from some of the world's most highly acclaimed breweries. This progressive tasting will showcase the main styles found in Belgian brewing, offer beginning insights on brewing technique, and highlight the history and vision of each featured brewery. Join Chef Stacey as she takes you through shopping, prepping and cooking a weeks worth of meals that will only take you a short time to prepare. Planning and prepping ahead with save you time and money. This is a demonstration class. A full meal will be served.

Harpoon Brewery: Food and Beer Pairing

Join Whole Foods and the Harpoon Brewery for a Harpoon IPA and UFO Hefeweizen beer tasting! Most importantly we will be offering food samples that pair perfectly with both beers. Chef Stacey will prepare culinary examples of how you can cook with beer featuring spicy meatballs in a tangy IPA sauce. We hope you will join us for this one a kind tasting here at Whole Foods South Loop!

Does your teen like to cook? Chef Stacey will help expand your teens skill set in the kitchen. She will offer organizational tips, basic sanitation and safety information as well as equipment and tool training.

Kids in the Kitchen

Drop your 7-12 year old off in the Lifestyle Center with Chef Stacey for an hour. You get to shop in peace and we get to decorate our own cupcakes, make wraps and fruit kabobs. Kids get to decorate and keep their own paper chef hat.

Beer Making Class with Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery
7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. $95 per couple, $85 individual, plus cost of ingredients ($40-$50)
Experience the joy of homebrewing as we take you step-by-step in brewing your first beer. Create brews of your own that you and your friends will enjoy. We'll cover all major aspects of brewing in this two-session class. In the first session you will brew a 6-gallon batch using the latest brewing techniques that truly produce a quality brew. Beer will ferment in our temperature-controlled cellar for 2 to 3 weeks. When ready, you choose a date to come in for the second session and bottle about 50 bottles of your beer. We have many beer styles to choose from. Custom labeling available. Bring your own clean bottles or purchase new ones for $11.99 per case, $1.50 for caps. Join Chef Stacey in the Lifestyle Center for an open house to sample recipes and to discuss her upcoming hands on cooking class series kicking off in November. The series will be focused on solid cooking techniques. In this three week series you will learn to grill, bake, braise sauté and improve your knife handling skills. Appetizers will be served.

One Pot Meals

Learn easy recipes that are perfect for families, couples and singles on the go. Whether it's in a crock pot or a grill pan you will learn how to whip together a yummy meal using just one pan. This is a demonstration class. A full meal will be served.

Wine Making Class with Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery (Two Sessions)
7:00-9:00 p.m. $95 per couple, $85 individual, plus cost of ingredients ($70- $175)
Make 28 to 30 bottles of excellent wine the first time. Experience the fine art of wine making as we take you through the step-by-step procedure of making your first varietal wine. Chardonnay to Estate grown Cabernet can be made. Wines are made in class with our equipment and guidance in the first of this two-session class. Fermentation is conducted in our underground, temperature controlled cellar and is overseen by our winemaker experts. When fermentation is complete in 8 to 10 weeks the second session we taste and bottle the wine. With our bottling equipment you bottle, cork and can custom label your wine. Class includes equipment use, cellar space and monitoring by our wine experts. A complete list of wine to make is available.
