Community Giving

At Whole Foods Market, we are active participants in our communities. We are extremely proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to make each month. Since our Chelsea location opened in 2001, we've donated over 345,261 pounds of bakery, canned food, meat, produce, and prepared food items to City Harvest. City Harvest is New York City's first and only food rescue program and picks up items daily from our stores.

Our Community 5% Days are another meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Just this month the New York City stores worked together to raise $45, 089.75 for the Food Bank for New York City. Food Bank for New York City is the city's major hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs.

Support Whole Foods Market’s Small Change Adds Up Charitable program today! Bring your reusable bag and receive 10 cents off your purchase or donate your 10 cents to benefit New York Cares. New York Cares meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service. So remember to bring your reusable bags, because small change adds up and gives way to change in our local community and global landscape. Thank you for your donation and for shopping with Whole Foods Market.

Community 5% Days

Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days. Our 5% Days are planned far in advance and fall into themed categories, including Farms & Harvest, Environment, Hunger & Homelessness, and Back to School. If you would like to be considered for a 5% Day, please send information about your organization, along with the donation application, to the Marketing Team Leader in the appropriate store.
