Harry's Farmers Market debuted in the Atlanta area in 1987 when founder Harry Blazer opened the first megastore in Alpharetta, GA. It was a quick success, becoming profitable within the first year.
Harry's Farmers Market stores were acquired by Whole Foods Market in November 2001. Ingredients standards for products on the shelves at Harry's are not always the same as for Whole Foods Market stores, even though shoppers will now find most of the items they love from Whole Foods Market stocked at Harry's Farmers Markets. We continue to move towards our goal of complete conversion to Whole Foods Market ingredients standards in Harry's stores, but in the meantime advise customers who wish to shop by all of Whole Foods Market's ingredients standards to read the labels of products they purchase.
