Community Giving

Whole Foods Market is a company with a conscience. We believe passionately in supporting the communities we serve. We believe companies, like individuals, must assume their share of responsibility as tenants of Planet Earth. On a local basis, we are actively involved in our communities by:

• Supporting local food banks
• Sponsoring neighborhood events
• Donating goods and services to 501c3 not-for-profit organizations (schools)
• Educating children and adults with explanatory interactive tours of our stores
• Offering informative classes
• Hosting adult and child cooking classes
• Holding tables at health fairs
• Performing community service work; We recognize that our team members are dedicated to the improvement of their neighborhoods and compensate them for volunteering.

We offer various donations to 501 (c) 3 organizations to help their needs and goals be met.

Our Community Support Days are another meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.

Whole Foods Market gives 10 cents per bag to customers who re-use their own shopping bags for their purchased groceries.   Customers have the choice to accept their cash refund, or donate the cash back to the store's chosen non profit organization as part of the One Dime at a Time program. This program reduces our impact on the environment and supports local non profit groups.

This month the donations from the One Dime at a Time program at Whole Foods Evanston North will go to the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation.  The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young women with breast cancer by providing financial assistance.

Whole Foods Market Evanston's Leadership Award

We are honored to announce that Whole Foods Market Evanston is this year's recipient of the Evanston Arts and Business Committee's Leadership Award for our dedication to the arts. Whole Foods Market was chosen based on dozens of donations made to over 22 arts organizations over the past two years. We are grateful to the Arts and Business Committee for this tremendous award, and we are honored to serve Evanston's thriving arts community
