Supporting the Community
At Whole Foods Market we value the communities in which we do business; this is one of our Core Values! We are extremely proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to foster each month. We strive to make a difference.
Charitable Giving
We frequently make donations of gift cards or our products area non-profit organizations.
Every day, overstock items are donated to a variety of Portland Food Banks including Bridge, Transition Projects, and PCRI.
Donation Request forms are available at the Customer Service Booth and should be returned to the store along with a copy of your group's 501(c)3 letter from the IRS/US Treasury at least 60 days prior to when you would like your donation.
Change For Change Program
At the check out, guests can either receive 10 cents off their purchase, per bag, or donate it to a non-profit organization. The non-profit organizations change every three months. Currently, we are sponsoring In Other Words, FEED, and Oregon Center for Environmental Health.
Community Support Day
Our Community Support Days are another meaningful way we give back to our community. Once a quarter, a percentage of the net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these days!

Whole Foods Market Fremont is proud to partner with the City of Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability to bring you (Nearly) Meatless Mondays, as part of their Urban Growth Bounty, sustainable cooking classes. Join instructor Ivy Manning, one Monday a month, to explore how even the staunchest carnivore can reduce their intake of meat, without sacrificing flavor or satiety. Individual classes are $40 and will include ample samples of 3 to 4 dishes, a recipe packet and shopping list. Ivy Manning is the author of The Farm to Table Cookbook and The Adaptable Feast. She also writes the "Vegetarian Flavors" column in the Oregonian FoodDay and is a frequent contributor to Cooking Light and Bon Appetite magazine. Visit her website and blog at ivymanning.com.
This month's focus is GLOBAL GOURMET. Most cultures in the world use meat as a condiment, not the anchor, or a meal. Ivy's class will give you an opportunity to learn great Indian, Thai, Greek and Moroccan recipes that are full of vegetables, whole grains, spices, and just a little bit of meat to create satisfying meals that are nutrient rich, cost less, and have a smaller carbon footprint.
