Community Giving

At Whole Foods Market, we are active participants in our community. We are extremely proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to make each month! We strive to make a difference.

Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.

One of our previous 5% Community Giving Days benefited the Resource Center of Dallas.

The Resource Center of Dallas is a nonprofit corporation established in 1983 by members of the board of the Dallas Gay and Lesbian Alliance. The Center operates the John Thomas Gay & Lesbian Community Center, AIDS Resource Center, and Nelson-Tebedo Health Resource Center. The Center focuses on providing health and social services, education, advocacy and support to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals in addition to those living with HIV and AIDS.

The Center established the AIDS Resource Center in 1985 to provide information and prevention education. The AIDS Resource Center now offers a wide range of programs to assist individuals and families affected by HIV and AIDS. The continuum of services includes: HIV awareness and prevention education/outreach; nutritional services including a food pantry and hot lunches; information & referral; Immunocise (fitness program); community health programs; and a number of other social support services.

The John Thomas Gay & Lesbian Community Center is the oldest arm of the Resource Center of Dallas, having served as a meeting and support center for local organizations since the late 1970s. Programs include a gay & lesbian sensitivity seminar series, domestic violence intervention, the Phil Johnson Gay & Lesbian Historic Archives and Research Library, Gay Bingo!, gay issues information line, X3 (social and educational gatherings and events for lesbian women), and FUSE (young gay male outreach).
