Community Giving

Whole Foods Market in Hingham is proud to support our local community. Every year we donate to many tremendous nonprofit organizations throughout the South Shore.

Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.

Other ways we support the community include:

• General Gift Card and Product Donations to Non-Profits (501c3 documentation required)
  Our most common donation is in the form of a gift card or food products. We donate gift cards to nonprofit organizations for use as auction items or as a way to purchase refreshments for fundraising events. We also donate food products to support these types of events or special meetings.

• Food Bank Donations
  Every week we donate safe and edible food from our shelves to local food pantries. Past recipients of our food include the Hingham Interfaith Pantry, The Greater Boston Food Bank and other local pantries.

• Register Donations for Non-Profits
  Every month at our registers we feature a local nonprofit organization and customers can choose to donate to the featured organization. At the end of the month, we tally the donations and send a check to the featured organization. Past recipients of register donations include: The South Shore Natural Science Center's Ecozone, The Pine Street Inn, Project Bread, AIDS Walk and more.

How To Apply For A Donation:
Please review our Donation Application Form (PDF). Submit a completed application 4-6 weeks prior to your event. Only completed applications with attached 501c3 letters that are received a minimum of 30 days prior to event date will be reviewed. During the month we review applications in the order received and contact each group via phone, email or mail. We try to assist as many organizations as we can, but it isn't always possible for us to grant every request as funding is limited.

Community Service

Every year we send volunteers to local fundraisers or charitable events.

Special Events

Every year we hold special events and/or attend special events where the proceeds are given to a local charity. Past events have included Good Will from the Grill benefiting The Mary Martha Learning Center of Hingham, The South Shore Natural Science Center, and more.
