The Community Kitchen!

Our new food education center is officially open. Look to cooking classes for seasonal recipes, food tastings to try new and exciting products, and educational seminars for tips on bettering yourself and your diet. If you'd like to attend one of our informative classes, we ask that you sign up in advance at our Customer Service desk or by calling 215.481.0800. Seating is limited and we can only guarantee seating for those who have signed up in advance. We hope to see you in the classroom!

    4th of July Taste Extravaganza!

    4-7 p.m. Cost: Free

    This weekend marks the official start of the summer for many of us. The 4th of July is a time for family, friends, swimming, and lots of grilling! Get an early start to your weekend party at this Taste Extravaganza! Each department will be sampling the best of the season and offering great suggestions and recipes to spice up your celebration!

    Stop by the Bakery to see some of our Team Members chow down on our delicious fresh baked pies. Come cheer on your favorite contestant. All this month pies are on sale for only $9.99... that's a savings of $6 per pie!

    12-6 p.m. Cost: Incredible Shrimp Sale from July 1st - 7th! Raw shell-on shrimp 16/20ct, regularly $15.99/lb for only $9.99/lb, $8.99/lb when you purchase 3lbs or more, or only $7.99/lb when you purchase 5lbs or more!

    Recycling Amnesty

    9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Cost: Free

    Due to the popularity of our Earth Day Recycling Amnesty and our commitment to the environment, we are now offering a monthly recycling opportunity. On the second Thursday of each month (until December), local residents are  invited to bring #1-#7 plastics (excluding Styrofoam) to our store for recycling. Simply drive up to our recycling drop point and we'll collect your hard to recycle plastics for free.

    Italian Cooking: The Outdoor Kitchen

    6:15 p.m. Cost: $10 or $5 with the purchase of Maria Liberati's book "The Basic Art of Italian Cooking"

    Join Chef Maria Liberati as she takes you on a summer culinary adventure! She'll share great recipes for dishes that are portable for the beach, dining al fresco or a summertime picnic. Enjoy scrumptious samples of Italian sandwiches-tramezzini, egg frittata, and cold rice salads all from her book, "The Basic Art of Italian Cooking".

    The Giving Grill

    11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Cost: food purchase

    Our monthly Giving Grill events are a great way to enjoy a hot meal right from the grill while helping a local non-profit organization. We offer the same great quality meat, poultry, and produce that we sell in the store freshly cooked right in front of you! Whole Foods Market donated all of the delicious food and 100% of the money collected at the grill will be donated to Storybook Musical Theatre.

    3rd Thursday Art Show

    6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Cost: Free

    Enjoy an evening of wonderful art, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and great conversation at this monthly event. Our Third Thursday gatherings will allow you the opportunity to meet local artists as they display their work in our café. This month's featured artist is: TBA

    Dog Wash

    10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cost: $5-$10 (varies with size of dog). All money collected goes directly to Philly PAWS.

    Does your pup need a good bath but you're not too keen on doing it yourself? Volunteers from Philly PAWS will join us to scrub your pooch until he shines. All well-behaved, leashed doggies are welcome. This event will take place on the 3rd Sunday of every month this summer!

    Half Pints: Chinese Food

    Looking for a fun way to get your little ones to eat more veggies? How about a delicious stir fry they create themselves? Our young chefs will mix and match a variety of veggies and proteins that we'll cook until crispy and delicious. They'll then concoct their very own sauce using a combination of familiar ingredients as well as some new exotic tastes. Choose brown rice or udon noodles to complete the meal. PARENTS: Consider this a night off from cooking dinner! Your Half Pints will enjoy a full meal.

    Tired of iceburg lettuce and that same old tossed salad? Spruce up your summer meals with super delicious salads and salad fixings. Certified Holistic Health Councilor Lois Quigly will show us how to make wild and natural, colorful and beautiful summer salads that will delight your palate and grace your plate. We'll add flavor and color, vitamins and essential oils, proteins and good fats.

    Trina from HappyBaby is back for her popular monthly cooking club. This month we're making delicious muffins that are packed with vitamins and minerals. After your little ones mix and bake their muffins, they can decorate them using healthier alternatives to frosting. This class is appropriate for kids ages 3-5.

    The 2009 Local Market season is back in full swing. We're starting early this year so you can pick up some wonderful gifts just in time for Mother's Day. Many of your favorite vendors will be back with their amazing locally made products. We also have some new producers that are sure to become favorites in no time.     Are you looking for a hearty breakfast that’s tasty and healthy? Our Omelet Chef is here to help. Order your omelet the way you like, packed full of veggies or with scrumptious all-natural meats and cheese. Toss a slice of toast or a bagel on the side and you’ve got your day off to a terrific start!

We require a minimum of 5 people signed up in advance for each class. If the minimum is not achieved at least 24 hours before the scheduled start of the class, we may cancel. Please be sure to leave your phone number at the time of registration so we may notify you of any cancellations.
