The Community Kitchen!

Our new food education center is officially open. Look to cooking classes for seasonal recipes, food tastings to try new and exciting products, and educational seminars for tips on bettering yourself and your diet. If you'd like to attend one of our informative classes, we ask that you sign up in advance at our Customer Service desk or by calling 215.481.0800. Seating is limited and we can only guarantee seating for those who have signed up in advance. We hope to see you in the classroom!

  Enjoy the sounds of holiday music as you sip a warm beverage and enjoy a sweet treat while surrounded by our beautiful 7' Douglas Fir Christmas trees.

  Hanukkah Taste Extravaganza

  4-7 p.m. Cost: Free

  Hanukkah is a little more than a week away and we want to help make your holiday special. Travel to each department to try a taste of some of our Hanukkah favorites. We even have new eco-friendly gifts to make the holiday extra special.

  Holiday Entertaining Festival

  12-2 p.m. Cost: Free

  Entertaining is one of the great joys of the holiday season! Check out some of our create and festive ideas for making your holiday parties and meals deliciously exciting. Each department will be showcasing their holiday best. There will be plenty of recipes and tips for making this the best holiday season ever!

  Holiday Cookie Recipe Exchange

  12-2 p.m. Cost: Free

  Holiday cookie parties are all the rage. Our version has you sampling a variety of our all-natural cookies and helping yourself to a slew of mouth-watering cookie recipes. Bring 10 copies of your favorite cookie recipe to swap and you will receive a free gift that will come in handy when baking your holiday treats!

  Holiday Baking for Special Diets

  5-7 p.m. Cost: Free

  Baking is a tradition in many families this time of year, but what do you do when you have a family member with a special diet? Bake extras, of course! At this sampling event you can try delicious holiday baked goods perfectly suited for those who avoid dairy, eggs, wheat, and gluten.

  HappyFamily Preschool Cooking Class

  10:30 a.m. Cost: Free

  Please register at Customer Service.

  Everybody loves pancakes! At this class, your little ones will learn how to make delicious pancakes with plenty of nutritious add-ins. Trina from HappyBaby will help the kids create a pancake themed craft and will read a special book.

  Community Recycling Day

  9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Cost: Free

  Bring your clean #1-#7 plastics for recycling. No Styrofoam, please.

• Thursday, December 17th

  Half Pints: Gift Giving

  5 p.m. Cost: $5

  There is no greater gift than the gift of giving. We're going to show your little holiday helpers how to create some delicious treats perfect for giving to family, friends, teachers, and neighbors. (Of course we'll sample some before packing them up!) ALLERGY INFORMATION: This class contains coconut and other tree nuts.

  Community e-Cycling Day

  10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cost: Free

  Did you get some great new gadgets for the holidays? Well don't throw away your old electronics! Computers, telephones, printers, and other devices are clogging up our landfills and they release many toxic chemicals into the soil and waterways. Instead, bring them to us for recycling!

  List of Acceptable Items:

  • Desktop computers, keyboards and mice
  • Laptop computers
  • Mainframe computer systems
  • Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) and monitors
  • Modems and telephone boards
  • Hard drives, floppy drives and CD ROMs
  • Phones, fax machines and telecommunications hardware
  • Printers
  • Computer boards, CPUs and memory chips, circuit boards
  • Connecting wires and cables
    (TVs are not accepted.)

  9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  Are you looking for a hearty breakfast that’s tasty and healthy? Our Omelet Chef is here to help. Order your omelet the way you like, packed full of veggies or with scrumptious all-natural meats and cheese. Toss a slice of toast or a bagel on the side and you’ve got your day off to a terrific start!

Class Cancelations

We require a minimum of 5 people signed up in advance for each class. If the minimum is not achieved at least 24 hours before the scheduled start of the class, we may cancel. Please be sure to leave your phone number at the time of registration so we may notify you of any cancellations.
