    A Darker Brew

    7 p.m. $10*

    Just a simple cup of coffee? Think again! Coffee is incredibly complex and interesting, so don’t miss this class! We’ll talk about – and sample! – different roasts, flavors, varietals, regions and brewing techniques so you can figure out your favorites. We’ll also discuss certifications like fair trade, organic and shade-grown. *All attendees will receive a free half-pound of Bridgeport coffee and a $10 Whole Foods gift card!

    Ignite your Spring Appetite

    12 p.m. $10*

    As spring arrives, it is the perfect time to explore ways to whet your appetite for lighter, healthier foods.  Victoria Shanta Retelny, registered dietitian and culinary instructor, will take you on a one-hour tour of foods that will ignite your desire to prepare meals at home in a fun, healthful and low-calorie way.  Three recipes include: Edamame Red Pepper Salad, Fire-Roasted Cumin Eggplant and Spicy Seafood Quinoa Bowl.

    *All proceeds for the class will go to benefit the non-profit Whole Planet Foundation!

    Cheese Making: The Next Step

    7 p.m. $10*

    Mastered the easy cheeses like ricotta and paneer? Test your cheese making skills with mozzarella and more! Join cheese aficionados Jeremy and Sunny from Lakeview's specialty department for the next level in cheese making. 

    *The best part is, the price of the class goes toward a $10 gift card that you get to use toward the cost of a cheese making kit (or you can skip the kit and head straight to the delicious cheese, we won't tell!).

    Vegetarian Entrees

    6:30 - 8:30 p.m. $15

    Are you a vegetarian?   Not a vegetarian?  No matter, these 3 dishes will satisfy your palate and your stomach.  Come learn, from René Rich of Learn Cook Eat, how to prepare 3 vegetarian entrees you can make for an evening or weekend meal.  Two of these dishes could also be a side dish and one makes a great appetizer.  Samples of each dish will be provided. 

    Menu includes Eggplant and Tomato Sauté, Pasta with Broccoli and Garlic, and a Onion and Mushroom Tart.

    Beer School: Bocks and Barleywines

    7 pm $10*

    Help Lakeview's beer guys, Scott and Nick say goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring at the next installment of Whole Brews.  This month we will explore the inner workings of the higher gravity Barleywine style ales and the traditional spring festival lagers known as Bocks. Do barleywines really have anything to do with wine and what is the deal with the goats on all those beer labels?  Join us to find out the answers to these questions and many more.  Oh, and of course, come by to enjoy some tasty brews.  Cheers!

    Bell's Oberon Release

    Whole Foods Market Lakeview will be hosting an exclusive event featuring Jim O'Connor from Bell's Brewery.  We will be celebrating the seasonal release of Bell's Oberon, pouring and discussing it along with several other award winning Bell's varieties. All Bell's beers will be on sale, so stop by and try these amazing craft brews!

    Beer School: Stone Brewery

    Lakeview's beer ninjas, Scott and Nick are karate chopping up a storm in overly-excited anticipation for the April release of Stone Brewing Co.  That's right folks, Stone has finally made it to Chicago; all the way from California.  We just can't help ourselves.  So this next class will be devoted to welcoming this fine brewery's line of beers to the Midwest.  We're not trying to be arrogant or anything, but this just might be one of the best classes of the year.  Cheers!

    Warm days are upon us and cold brews are in our hands.  Join Lakeview's beer divers, Scott and Nick, on a wave of summer brews.  We have our sights set on the best beers, from lagers to ales, that will quench your thirst with style.  Oh, the possibilities that sunshine and warmth bring!  Oh thank you, delicious beers, for wetting our whistles and giving us voices with which to sing. Knock, knock.  Who's there?
