Come on Spring!

Check out our new March/April Whole Deals Booklet-Spring forward with our family meals and green ideas that keep more green in your pocket. There are tips, 10 easy new recipes and over $30 in  money saving coupons. Our Whole Planet Foundation campaign is in full swing and we'll be asking you to donate at the register.100% of the donations generated will go directly to the microlending program in 17 countries around the world. Help us reach our 2010 goal of $1.5 million and be part of this global solution to eradicate poverty. Fresh Spring Everything is our theme from green cleaning products to everrything you'll need to make your Passover or Easter perfect. Our holiday menus will be available soon if you'd like to order ahead or get items from our case. Of course we'll have ham and lamb, chickens and brisket and Seafood will have a wonderful assortment of fish. Please preorder to be assured of the fish you'd like if you're making your own gefilte fish. Look for Healthy Eating Starts Here signs around the store.

    Each week there will be a different department featured. See Customer Service to get a wooden token good for one treat from the featured department.Children will receive a treat from that department and an activity page from Customer Service. When they return the completed activity page with their name and age to Molly any Tuesday they will get a surprise. Children up to age 10(accompanied by an adult) may participate. Only one treat per child, per day please.

    Half Pints Friday (in the Cafe)

    10:30-11:30 a.m. Free

    Join Molly in the Café to register your kid/s. Kids receive a gift bag the first time they register and have a chance to pick a rubber duck for a prize every week. They get their official Half Pint Club card and use it in various departments to receive free samples every Friday between 10:30 and 11:30 am. 10:30  is story time in the Café. Join Molly for all the fun! No groups please.

    Mill Around the Mill

    5:00pm-8:00pm Free

    The merchants of the Mt. Washington Mill are hosting "Around the Mill" on the first Friday of each month.  From 5 P.M. to 8 P.M., customers will have the chance to visit each store of the Mt. Washington Mill for discounts, complimentary refreshments and the chance to win a gift basket valued at $400.

    Each participating merchant will contribute a $50 retail value item for inclusion in each month's gift basket, and invite shoppers to sip wine and enjoy special discounts and refreshments.  

    Customers are encouraged to visit each store and leave their completed "mill pass" at the last store they visit in order to win the $400 gift basket. Visit our Customer Service Desk to get your pass or have it stamped.

    New Orleans Style Cooking Class

    7:00pm Free in the Cafe

    Due to snow we canceled our Mardi Gras themed cooking class last month but you can serve these New Orleans kind of foods anytime. We're lucky to have Ed Bloom, Executive Chef and owner of Ethel & Ramone's in Mt. Washington Village teach this class. Learn to prepare a meal start to finish -jambalaya, red beans and rice, and he'll provide ideas for dessert. You'll get to taste everything. This is a fun class!

    Special Half Pint Kids' Club

    10:30-11:30 am Free in the Cafe

    Join Noelle Maher, Community Marketing Specialist, of HappyBaby, for this Spring themed class. She will read a story and then the children will make planters and put seeds in them to take home. Coupons and samples will be available. The usual Half Pint activities will also take place.Come have fun with us.

    Parent or caregiver must accompany child. Space is limited. No groups please.

    Healthy Eating Greens & Grains Shopping Tour

    6:30-7:30pm Free

    Meet Molly in the cafe for information and get recipes about  greens and grains. Then we'll tour the store to find a variety of healthy greens and grains. We'll taste along the way and share easy preparation recipes. Learn to shop in our store for quality, health and value.  You could be the winner of  a goody bag filled with grains and greens. Each participant will receive a free 365 healthy grain at the conclusion of the tour.  

    These tours fill up fast so please preregister at Customer Service. Limited to 15.

    Special Story Time & Half Pint Club

    Join us as we welcome Lisa Bechmann, an Early Childhood teacher at the Waldorf School of Baltimore,  for this special wonderful Half Pint Club. She sings beautifully, story tells with animation, does unusual crafts with the children and parents and kids are mesmerized! Lisa will do a Spring themed activity. You and your little ones won't want to miss this.

    New registration is in the Cafe & the usual activites will also take place after Lisa's program.

    Space is limited. Only children accompanied by a parent/caregiver may attend. No groups please.

    Healthy Eating Cooking Class

    7:00-8:00pm Free in the Cafe

    If you are trying to completely change how you eat, or just trying to incorporate more nutrient dense and healthy meals into your diet, this class is for you!  Join Zeke, our Demo Specialist and Kristen, our new Healthy Eating Specialist,while they show you an example of " a day in a diet" based on whole grains, dark greens and whole foods, from breakfast to dessert.You will learn how to make the meals, why they are beneficial to you, and get samples and recipes to take home.

    Try your luck at Hoops and you could win the Hoop. We'll charge a fee for the shots but all of the money collected will go to the Whole Planet Foundation and your name will be entered to win the Hoop.

    Whole Foods Market has launched a Web site, m.wholefoodsmarket.com, which provides recipes and information on store specials and events via mobile devices. It also allows users to create shopping lists and files of recipes through their mobile devices.

  • Coupons Online Now Available

    There are limited vendor coupons now available online that are in the Whole Deal in the store. If you need a coupon just print it out.

  • Thank You for Your Change for Change

    Nickels for NonProfits

    You are making a difference with your nickels for nonprofits in our store. Bring your bags back everytime you shop and ask the cashier for a wooden nickel for nonprofit for each bag you use. You can place your nickels in one of two slots in the specially marked box near the exit door. When it's full we'll write a check to both organizations.  

     Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter(BARCS)

     Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) is the largest animal shelter in the Baltimore area handling over 12,000 cats, dogs, and other animals a year.     Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake

    What does it take to build a house? It takes planning, money and willing hands. There is a great need for permanent, safe, affordable housing in the Baltimore area.  Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake is a non-profit organization consisting of devoted volunteers, donors and staff committed to eliminating substandard housing through new home construction and rehabilitation of vacant property.    www.habitatchesapeake.org 410.366.1250  



  • Thank You for Your Support of Our Last 5% Community Day

    You shopped with us on Tuesday, January 12th and 5% of net proceeds will benefit Mt Washington Elementary School. $4508 will go to the School for a Green Playground and a Garden! Mt. Washington Elementary School parents were great! We had  Kids' storytimes, raffles every hour, live Jazz and celebrities bagging groceries including City Council President, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Principal Sue Torr. It was a fun and fruitful day! Himmelrich Associates, Inc, our landlord, will 1/2 match our donation and we're thrilled for the School.
