We are proud to announce our next 5% Community Day beneficiary is The Kimball Art Center on Thursday, November 19 including the Young Artists' Academy Art Opening from 5-8 pm!
The Kimball Art Center is the heart of Park City's historic and vibrant arts community. It is a non-profit center for the arts, committed to engaging individuals of all ages in diverse and inspiring experiences through education, exhibitions and events. They also host the Young Artists' Academy (YAA) where students study and practice the visual arts.
Our cafe is now the proud home of art work created by the young artists in the YAA program called "Park City Then and Now" and will be up for our customers to enjoy through January 2010.
To celebrate the talented students, amazing artwork, and 5% Community Day, we will be holding an Art Opening on Thursday, November 19 from 5-8.
Please be sure to do your Thanksgiving Day shopping on Thursday, November 19 to help benefit the Kimball Art Center! Plus stop by the Art Opening to meet the young artists in our community, enjoy their artwork, and lots of declicious food, it's free! Check out the Park Record article about our 5% Community Day!
Please note: 5% of the entire day's sales benefit the Kimball Art Center (not only during the Art Opening from 5-8 pm.)
To learn more about the Young Artists' Academy see below.
Young Artists' Academy: The YAA is for students in middle and high school who are dedicated to the study and practice of the visual arts. This select group of artists develops their ideas and philosophies of visual arts through a variety of creative projects and community events. Academy members are encouraged to go outside of their comfort zone and experiment with projects and ideas they might not experience in school. Students in this program enrich their portfolios and resumes, meet local artists and explore careers in the visual arts.
The YAA consists of fifteen students who work hard to advance their understanding of the visual arts. The academy is supported by private donations and fundraising projects. Applications are released in the spring of each year and a new group joins returning students.
During the past year, the YAA has participated in various community service projects and events. To find out more information about the YAA and the Kimball Art Center please visit www.kimballartcenter.org.
Thank You Park City!
Together we raised $2,269.02 for Friends of Animals (FOA) during our Community 5% Day on Tuesday, July 21!
We also held an Adopt-A-Thon outside our store where FOA featured some of the lovable puppies and dogs available for adoption at Furburbia!
Our customers had fun visiting with the dogs, learning about FOA, and one generous customer donated $100 to FOA on the spot, thanking them for the valuable work they do in our community!
We couldn't agree more, and we will be presenting our Community 5% Day check at their Barking Ball Fundraiser on Saturday, August 15!
To learn more about Friends of Animals and how our Community 5% Day donation will help, or you are a non-profit organization that would like to apply for a Community 5% Day, please read below.

Who is Friends of Animals?
FOA plays a vital role in our community as they strive "to protect and provide for animals while fostering an awareness of their importance in our lives."
They run a top notch adoption center called Furburbia and run a vital Spay & Neuter Program which offers low and even no-cost services in our community.
Sadly, over 5 million healthy cats and dogs are euthanized a year due to nothing more then lack of a good home. FOA works tirelessly to decrease this number through their work to promote and provide spay and neuter services and prevent unwanted litters.
Their Spay & Neuter Program is in major need of funding this year and none of it is possible without your support. Our 5% Community Giving Day will go towards reaching FOA's goal of raising $150,000 to help pay medical equipment and supplies that can provide lifesaving treatment, spay and neuter surgeries, and therapy to heal neglected and abused animals.
Thank you for your support in raising $2,269.02 for Friends of Animals this Community 5% Day!
Don't miss the FOA Barking Ball Fundraiser on Saturday, August 15! We will be presenting the check from our 5% Community Giving Day!
