Whole Foods Market has been nestled in the Northridge/Porter Ranch community since November 2001. The history of Porter Ranch dates back to the 1700’s when local Native Americans gathered around a natural spring of water at what is now the intersection of Parthenia and Reseda Blvd. First called Zelzah, a biblical name meaning Oasis.

The area was very fertile and soon became famous as a shipping point for produce. Benjamin Porter purchased the land on the Northern hilly area and harvested wheat in the late 19th Century. During the mid 1900’s the relatively secluded area became get away homes of movie stars. The late 1980’s and early 1990’s brought major change to the Porter Ranch community. Today the area is a growing area of single-family homes in which we are happy to serve.
