  All Day

  Today we are hosting a 5% Day benefiting South Bay Children's Health Center. We ask that you do your weekly shopping with us today, as 5% of our store's net sales will be donated to this local non-profit organization, whose mission is a provider of outpatient dental, vision, hearing and child guidance services to low and moderate income families; to include a special education day treatment program that provides a comprehensive academic and therapeutic setting.  The Center's objective is to provide these services at the lowest possible cost, without regard to child's color, religion, gender, national origin, ancestry or ability to pay.

  Whole Planet Foundation Annual Prosperity Campaign

  Join us in our effort to raise awareness as well as $1.5 million for the Whole Planet Foundation, a private, nonprofit organization that creates economic partnerships with the poor in those developing-world communities that supply our stores with product. Through innovative assistance for entrepreneurship such as direct microcredit loans, the Whole Planet Foundation seeks to create wealth and prosperity in emerging economies.   Parmigiano Reggiano Crack

  12 p.m.

  Whole Foods Market's cheese mongers in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom will demonstrate the traditional method of breaking into 24-month-aged wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano using official tools (five different knives) from Italy's Consorzio del Formaggio Parmigiano Reggiano. The process of carving into and portioning each 85-pound wheel requires an expert hand and is usually done in about half an hour. In 2008, Guinness World Records confirmed that Whole Foods Market set a record for "Most Parmigiano Reggiano Wheels Cracked Simultaneously," with nearly 300 wheels opened at 176 stores and we're going to break our own record!
