Nickels for Non-Profits
We have launched a new program to assist our local non-profits. We hope you will support us in this effort. We all know that, when you bring your own reusable bags, you receive a nickel back. Now YOU have the option to take that nickel off your bill or receive a wooden nickel and give it to a non-profit. There is a box located in the front of our store to hold these wooden nickels and they are really adding up. Please be a supporter of our local non-profits groups. It's an easy way to help agencies that help our community. This quarter's recipients are "PRS", an organization that serves the mentally challenged citizens of Reston, and "Nature House", funding that will go to help build and maintain a new nature center along the Reston trails.

Gleemania Returns to RestonMost puppet shows are strictly for observers but Sue Cournoyer's Gleemania is a uniquely interactive musical performance with realistic nature puppets and funny masks so the characters can be brought to life by audience volunteers. Come join in the fun for "Who Let the Dogs Out?"
Goldie Locks is feeling Hungry, Angry, Lonely and Tired (The HALT Principle) this morning, and she's not herself. She decides that the Locks' Family Rules aren't fair, and that she would rather do whatever she feels like doing today. But won't she get herself in trouble? Does she even care? Does she know that her actions will put her in danger?
WE know what usually happens next, but this version has a revised ending. What does Goldie learn from her consequences? Topics covered will be hibernation, easy bed making techniques, proper teeth brushing skills, whining tactics, nutritional tips, privacy issues, safety rules, respect for others, problem solving, hospitality, and a porridge cooking lesson.
Children aged 2 to 10 will love the characters and learn many positive lessons. Please note: This kids' club will feature just one performance of the show.

What is Celiac disease and how can I modify my diet or cook for someone else to help alleviate this condition? Celiac disease is an inherited autoimmune disorder marked by an inflammatory condition in the small intestine that triggers when genetically susceptible individuals consume wheat. Symptoms of celiac most commonly begin around age two, after wheat has been introduced into the diet, or in the third and fourth decades of adult life. This tour will spotlight the amazing amount of products available on our shelves and then we will sample some of these. You'll see...there are many delicious choices of gluten-free products.
Wine Classes will return in the fall...
In order to focus our attention on our new "Five After Five" program beginning Friday, June 12th, we will be suspending our regular wine classes for the next few months. Look for these to begin again in September.
